What would you get used BMW M5 or a Brand New Lexus IS250 AWD loaded?

Good job. Building the old E-trade account huh.
Although I'd say if you save half your take home, you could probably afford a home anywhere in the US except where you live, or Manhattan. hahaha, sucks I know.
I can afford to own a home here, no doubt, but for the money, I don't like what you get, PLUS I think real estate in this particular market is a short term loser. Why dilligently sock away money just to put it in something that loses value or best case stays flat for the near term?

i don't own a home, so no, i'm not a baller. I can afford either, but I try to limit my total monthly expense (I'd be buying this car cash).

$20 per week = over $1000 per year. Even if I make 100K, that's 1% of my income gone just because of my vehicle choice!

hold off on the SFR or condo in So cal. Values are expected to continue to drop until 2008-2009. from the mouth of our S.VP of appraisal reviews.

no need to pay cash for car unless you loaded. Finance it and have your money go to work for you. No need to sink any of your reserves into an auto

shop for a decent rate credit union bank etc. find a way use the money you would have spent on the car and invest it.

M5.

with the m5 be prepared to toss in a clutch as the clutches are a known weak spot on the m5 and they do happen to go out quite early. (common)

oil changes will be 150 a piece. an inspection will be $1000-1500 every 15-20k miles.

with the M5 budget for about 3,000- 3,500 a year for upkeep (tires, brakes, oil changes, inspections, clutch, arm brushing etc)
thanks for the info man!

150 for an oil change?? my local guy does BMWs and I dont think he charges more than 50.

Yes, get the M5. I want you to go broke paying for upkeep, then you'll be forced to sell me your karma bonds for pennies on the dollar.

Homie the M5 isnt a regular Bmw. There is only one oil that will work for this car and it 10w60. you cannot buy this anywhere like pep boys etc. you have to get it a BMW dealership or online somewhere.

1 quart is $12 bucks.

10 quarts will be $120 for the oil then the labor.

With the m5 everything is more.

*PS2 tires will be $400 a piece. they will last 10k miles if you drive soft.
*every other oil change is an inspection. check the valves etc will be $1000-$1800
*clutch will be at least $2000

The m5 will bring a smile to your face like no Lexus will ever match. Dude Lexus are boring to drive. I am just letting you know up front the M5 will be an expensive toy to keep up and keep it running solid. I sold for MB and ppl would buy a Used Amg car etc and just think the payment + gas + insurance was all that they need to budget for but a sports minded auto will cost more to keep up.

good luck.

personal opinion

buy the m5. finance it, have your money work for you which you were going to sink into the car, budget for any repairs and be prepared to ass rapped on anything minor thing as that car is long over due on warrenty.

driving the m5 will turn you driving into joy. the lexus will not do that. The m5 back in its prime would keep C5 vettes at bay.
