what sort of workout do you do?

in terms of weights not cardio, does anyone here work until failure and if so how long would it normally take you to get there?
Thanx!

failure on every working set
many times i will get a half rep or something, because i try to get one more every time

I don't go to failure(heavy) anymore, to much stress on my joints, plus you tend to use poor form.

I still go heavy but in a slow controlled movement, I actually get more sore now then when I went to failure.

I beleive that it hits more muscle fibers this way.

With what I am doing now...

4-12 reps(lower reps on compound movements)
Most Muscle Groups worked 2x a week Triceps worked 3x a week
A light and heavy day for each muscle group
Rest Paused Techniques used sometimes
DC extreme stretch for chest
Failure on all sets

This is a program geared at strengthening my bench..

on my non 5x5 lifts i pretty much go to failure- except for leg press after squats i dont go to failure untill the last rep of the last set just because its such a hastle

I do a vaguely westside routine so I only go to failure on my max effort excercises on 1 set (1 upperbody 1 lowerbody). However I do get pretty close with some of my accessory stuff

I thought failure= cant do anymore?

if this is so, are all you guys saying when you get up after a set, you could have done more?

Not for every exercice and not every workout

But when I don't go to failure I try to go as close to as possible

im doing 5x5..
there are 2 kinds of failure concentric (cant raise the weight any more) and eccentric failure ( cant lower the weight)..so tatol failure would have to include both forms..most go to concentric failure

Thank you, good post bro,

so is what everyone is saying that they go to some type of failure, I would say that little to no-one goes to full failure, that would just be crazy!!!
