Well I have finaly answered this fucking question. What makes a great coach.....HAVING AN OPEN MIND, walking awy from what you have done for yrs and lLEARNING SOMETHING NEW..

I saw Louie Simmins lay down on a bench and Bill Crawford gave him some pointers at Louies request.. How the fuck about that louie I've been in powerlifting for over 32yrs have coached the strongest motherfuckers on the plantet simmons took advice from someone else...put everything aside that he taught andd was familiar and listend to Bill C. I also saw Dave Tate put aside everythig that was familiar and go with something new, He broke 600 for the first time and did 610....this is what makes a great coach. I told louie I was having trouble and could I come down to work on my deadlift he smiled at me and said anytime, this it what it';s all about. If you want to read what Dave has to say hit the link

go to news , training logs , dave tate ipa results

I love you guys... :bawling:

That's always been my first compliment about Lou too; he's a good teacher because he never stops learning. Never. If he's not sucking you dry for info, he's getting inspiration from the way an oil well on his way to Texas works (leverage). He sees damn near anything and everything as way to learn more, teach better.

He's too smart to formulate an opinion about someone's training without knowing EVERY detail about it. That's just basic respect, but it also keeps him from looking like a misinformed jackass.

The people that are REALLY at the top, not just in the big fish in their own small pond, are like this.

Yeah, and I would add RESULTS to the equation. If you are getting results out of yourself and the people you train, then you are a good coach.

That is very cool about Louie taking advice from Bill. You fella's are truly doing the Lord's work (heavy Irish accent on that last part)

Yes: humble and constantly learning. That's also a sign of someone who just LOVES what they do. That's very cool.

But to also listen, evaluate and create a plan of action. IMO, that also could be added to the list of "Good Coach"

it was very cool to see Bill C. put down everything and help gritter and dave out on the bench, thats pure sportsmanship, and really showed me how much of a passion he has for the sport, he gets my respect hands down, with 3 white lights!
