What kind of dog to get?

The gf and I are thinking about getting a dog. I don't want to pay a ton for it. I'd like a bigger dog but don't want huge land mines all over my yard either. Would prolly have to be kenneled for 6-8 hrs a few days a week. Don't want hair all over everything either. Well behaved, obedient, easily trainable. Must get along with kids & other animals.

Any suggestions and why?

I love my labs. Avid hunter and my labs are family. But prob not for you because they will shed a lot and tear up shit as a pup. If you want a well behaved easily trained dog I would suggest a Weimaraner. They dont shed a lot and are typically very smart. JMO

whatever kind of dog you get, I wouldn't trust it around kids unattended. unless it's small enough for the kids to stomp if it wanted to snap at them

I had a English bulldog their life expectancy is horrible....2 years and mine had a heart attack
