What kind of Dog do you have?

Just get a basenji. Wild breed around 20# fox tail, killers by nature no local critters are safe when they are present. Love mine.

wrong. they are viscious have fighting bred into them.

anyone who says different is either 1)ignorant, or 2) in denial.

I wont let my lab near a pit. (even though last one who attacked my boy promptly had a pair of lab teeth wrapped around his shitty pit throat).

people who create a demand for these dogs piss me off. most are white trash.

sorry to go off. but nothing i said above is untrue.

I'm a little disappointed that one of the responders that did have pit bulls mentioned that they were viscous and needed to be kept chained up. They only end up that way if you breed them that way. No soapbox, but pit bulls can be lovely, sweet, amazing dogs and it seems so thuggish to raise them that way.

so true....the only people who defend them are their owners...then, they get all upset when they get sued becuase their dog attacks a child. these beasts always seem to attack children.

Funny thing is you almost always hear their owners vehemently defend them.

They try to always blame abusive owners for their actions and say as long as you have them as a puppy and train them you're fine. Bullshit.

Pits are one of the most animal aggressive breeds. That's why other peoples pets are always killed by pits.

Stupid is as stupid does. Pits do have it bred into them to be aggressive but that does not mean they automatically are. Anyone here ever had a lab that didn't swim? It happens. I don't own nor ever have owned a pit but my gf's father saved one as a puppy. They didn't chop his ears like those idiots do and if you were not sharp you would think it was marmaduke. He's great around kids and neighbors. Yes his breed is pre dispositioned to be aggressive but he is not. He has been raised not to attack on command or abused. He is very obedient and gentle. He even runs away from their first dog. A pug. So don't make blanket assumptions about peoples ignorance for sticking up for a dog breed. If you are raised by white trash chances are that dogs gonna be a piece of shit. But so could any breed for that matter.

Siberian husky and if you have children stay away from a hybrid. They are very unpredictable!

exactly..i got so sick of them it was ridiculous..i had 8 adults all different blood lines raised all from pups, trained and i was never agressive with them..i never played tug of war with them, i never instigated growling or to be agressive, my daughter was 3 then and all the dogs were socialized with eachother and people all day everyday... everything could be fine dogs playing then next thing ya know bloods flying absolute chaos...after 5 years of breeding i was done...i owned pits for over 10 years but enough was enough...most unpredictable dogs there are...my dogs would kill anything that moved..be it a bug,fly cat squirell dog anything...they would sit in the windows jaws chattering at anything that passed by that was not a human...i put my last one down because she attacked 2 dogs that got into our yard, yes it was the other dogs faults but point is ya never know when there gonna have a bad day and snap on a person...

Really? Because I've never owned a pit.

It is owners. And I'm not saying they don't have a natural tendency to be more aggressive than certain other dogs, but the right owner can tame that instinct with good training and proper energy release for the dog.

People don't understand that not every owner is suited for every dog. Same thing as if you dont want to brush your dog every day, or exercise it for a few good hours a day, you shouldn't get a golden retriever or if you want to go hiking you shouldn't get a bulldog.

Dogs aren't all the same, but someone well suited for a pit who knows how to properly take care of such a dog could easily teach a pit not to act on it's aggressive moods and to be much more relaxed with simple behavior modification from puppyhood. Unfortunately, most pit owners aren't willing to put in the necessary work to provide the pit with proper energy release and training.
you have no clue what your talking about
