XBiker said:I got a new PC recently and it was rebooting when I would go to run a DVD. Seemed the DVD software was not cooperating with the OS.
I updated the DVD software and it was fine.
Is your MSN Messenger working....?

It will not go past the "insert boot disk" page.
When I reboot it with the XP cd, it states that no hard drive has been detected.
I opened the side and fiddled with the connections, but no luck.
2Thick said:XBiker,
It found the hardrive but this does not function
2Thick said:Will do.
I put in my XP Pro CD that I had from before now it is starting windows?
What is going on?

Delinquent said:When I did tech support for Dell a couple years ago, I'd take calls from people that just turned it on for the first time with that problem. It could have been damaged in shipping or it could have just been a defective hardrive. It definitely does happen. The sudden reboot thing sounds like a memory problem. If your memory is loose, it will randomly reboot. Definitely don't get XP home again if you can
Darktooth said:2Thick, what kind of PC is it? Where did you buy it from? (Gateway, Dell, etc..)

I could tell you numbers of possibilities that my be happening, and a lot of troubleshooting you could do, but I would not touch it at all, do not try to trouble shoot or anything, just simply take it back to be replaced or repaired, if you start messing with it, and you take it back for refund to to be fixed, they might think it is the users fault, and may not help you.
Remember, anyone that tries to fix your computer, or exchange it out will look at everything on your hard drives (no matter what they say) they will see and know everything on your hard drive, porn, roids articles, pictures, personal etc etc. i'v known people who work at professional stores who have fixed problems, and kept computers a extra day just for amusement. just a heads up.
