What is wrong with my PC??

When I did tech support for Dell a couple years ago, I'd take calls from people that just turned it on for the first time with that problem. It could have been damaged in shipping or it could have just been a defective hardrive. It definitely does happen. The sudden reboot thing sounds like a memory problem. If your memory is loose, it will randomly reboot. Definitely don't get XP home again if you can

Shut your computer off, then resart it. When it the company screen first come on, keep hitting f8. Put your computer in safe mode. Then delete the last program you downloaded or installed. Maybe even the last 2. Shut it down again and then restart it. See if that works.

Too late, got the XP home again. The warranty does not allow for me to upgrade to the XP Pro I have, either.

I wish that you would have posted that yesterday, but since my hard drive died, I doubt that I could have even started it in safe mode.

It is 3 weeks old.

I could tell you numbers of possibilities that my be happening, and a lot of troubleshooting you could do, but I would not touch it at all, do not try to trouble shoot or anything, just simply take it back to be replaced or repaired, if you start messing with it, and you take it back for refund to to be fixed, they might think it is the users fault, and may not help you.

Remember, anyone that tries to fix your computer, or exchange it out will look at everything on your hard drives (no matter what they say) they will see and know everything on your hard drive, porn, roids articles, pictures, personal etc etc. i'v known people who work at professional stores who have fixed problems, and kept computers a extra day just for amusement. just a heads up.

Well it appears that my hard drive died after 3 weeks.

Is that normal?

Yes, you weren't aware of this?
I replace my hard drive every 2nd week.

That is very comforting...LOL

I did not have much on there besides my favorites and a few songs/movies/games that I will have to find again.

But if the hard drive is gone, then they would have to go out of their way to find anything, right?
