Hey man,
I am from Boston, MA too. I am not sure but you might be wrong about MA being not concerned with their bodies, in a recent article in Men’s Fitness Boston was rated the healthiest cities to live in and in another GQ article it was rated number two behind San Diego. There were many reasons why Boston is a healthy city mostly because of the parks and the number of health clubs and gyms per capita. Maybe you live in the out lying area because I found that there were tons of bodybuilders around Boston and the surrounding areas some of the best like Mike Matarazo and Paul Demayo come from Boston. I think maybe the further you are from the city they less bodybuilders you will find, but if you go out to a sports bar in Boston you see tons of meat heads, granted after they reach a certain age they do seem to let their bodies go. I can also say from experience that people in MA are much more friendlier than New Yorkers, No Offense to New Yorkers but you guys can be dicks sometimes. But where I live now in Southern California people are so friendly sometimes to the point of nausea, kidding it is great.
I understand what you are talking about though, about the summer being so short, it is short and hot. I moved almost 6 ½ years ago from MA to Southern California. I go back like 4 or 5 times a year but I will never move back there. I am a complete convert to Southern California. I lived in Hollywood for a little while but then I moved to the beach and it is amazing. The only time in my life I met more friends in such a short period of time was when I went away to college. AND THERE ARE NO FAT PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH BAY. Everyone is fit and healthy. I love that because it motivates me to work harder and to work on my body more, there are all types here from Bodybuilders to Fitness Models. They hold the Muscle Mania just a few minutes from my house, AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HOT CHICKS YOU WILL NOT FIND MORE ANY WHERE ELSE THAN IN HERMOSA BEACH, MANHATTAN BEACH AND REDONDO BEACH.
The COOLEST part about where I live is I would say that about 30% of the population comes from New England, they even have a PATRIOTS BAR just 3 blocks from my house on the beach, it is great. It is so cool because you walk around with your Red Sox hat and about 20 people will come up and talk to you about the Sox and about Boston. My suggestion is to move to HERMOSA BEACH, CA one of the most fun spots in Southern California. The Travel Channel had it ranked as one of the top 10 beaches in California. There are about 5 or 6 gyms in the area, plus your very close to Venice Beach and very close to all sorts of fun stuff. Good luck in your travels man!
