What I wrote to Fox news O'Reily Factor.

I did catch "Warrior" on Hannity & Colmes for about 10 seconds the other night. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up hearing something about steroids. To my surprise someone was arguing that they weren't bad for you. So I actually pulled myself up to try and listen.

I was so drowsy from Ambien that I couldn't muster enough to stay up and listen. But he didn't seem to be doing us any favors. He was extremely argumentative - I'm sure because he felt like he was being attacked - and really wouldn't let either guy get much of a question in without raising his voice and basically just throwing up all over the place.

Maybe there is a way to catch a clip of this somewhere online now? I'd love to see the whole thing.

But what we truly need is someone that has massive credentials behind them and the intelligence to be able to go out and debate someone point for point on steroids. You can't counterpoint someone siting supposed evidence that steroids are bad for you with, "Yeah but I don't think they are."

Unfortunately, they won't listen to someone that uses steroids advocating there usage either.

Either way, good effort Quad.

Steroids are dangerous if not used properly, but so is a steak knife, a car, matches, etc. I think the whole campaign against steroids is to try to scare kids away from it.

The problem is the media is bringing attention to something that a majority of kids didn't know much about or understand. 10 years ago a kid might say " I'm goin to start working out so I can hit home runs like Bonds and Macgwire", were they are now saying " I'm going to take steroids so I can hit home runs like Bonds and Macgwire". The media hype is causing a problem not preventing it.

At 11 years old I watched Predator once a week and had no idea that Arnold was on steroids or what steroids really were (I'd heard of them but not much). 11 year olds now are arguing over what athletes are juicing and what records should be taken away.

Steroids is such a hot topic in this country lately that the media is going to do anything and everything to connect Benoits actions to steroids.
The media doesn't want anyone to argue their side for steroids because then the story would just be "Drunk wrestler kills wife" not as exciting as "Wrestler kills family in steroid induced rage".

Damn media, did I mention I work in radio? Great letter Quad!!

Great post Quad, I agree with your view point...but I think when it comes to steroids the less media coverage the better. The sooner this gets off the front pages the less the government is going to increase the persecution of users.
Bill O'Rilley is my favorite news personality, but we must rember that news isn't a public service, it's a business. It must be sold to the public for the stations to make a profit. Kudo's to Fox for being able to make a profit and dominate their industry while pushing an unpopular conservative agenda. It's amazing actually. However no news service is going to profit by being pro steroid when 99% of the U.S. general public is anti steroid.
Education is the key, but that'll take decades. NORML has been at it for 40 + years and is only now seeing marijuana laws reformed.
I think the best stratagy is for users and UG suppliers to keep flying under the radar, and let Doctors and the money motivated drug companies do their thing by buying politicians into accepting steroids for HRT purposes. The more HRT users, the less harsh their viewpoints on the athletic users are going to be - hopefully.

Its funny that everyone rips O'reilly yet has not said one thing about anyone on CNN, CNBC, MSNBC etc. All those stations push a liberal adgenda every day.
Even PBS which is funded by our own money only plays liberal based programming.
Its disturbing.
I tend to watch CNN and FOX. The truth is somewhere in between.

I'm neither liberal or conservative. I don't need to pick a team to form my ideas. In general I think most politicians on both sides are self absorbed assholes. (That's why I like Arnold and Bloomberg. They're more concerned with leaving a legacy than towing party lines. I'd vote for that pres/VP ticket right now).

However, it isn't the fact that O'Reily is conservative (he is, but not radically so like Lindbugh or Hannity) it's that he's so freighteningly full of himself. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but no one is entitled to their own facts. When someone does that and has a pulpit from which to spew and has legions of followers -- I get a little nervous.
