it's just porn for the geeks that run NASA. They'll be jacking off for years over the data and in the end result will be some vague nebulous conclusion that microbial life at some point existed on MARS but that we need to spend another 100B on another more complex rover. It's fucking money we don't have. In the end I'll bet it's just another "we were there first" thing. So while our society decays a bunch of american nerds get to thumb their noses at chinese and russian nerds.

yeah but EB I'm being bombarded everyday with messages that our spending is out of control and we have to cut medicare and close schools instead of bases....NASA has approx a 20B budget, that's not chump change. Yeah we print off 20B to Israel once every 2-3 years i get it, we spend "alot". But they're coming at teachers who make 30k like "ur just taking way too much of the pie", but then they want to go bring back sweet postcards from around the solar system like it's just costs a couple bucks.
Things developed for the the Space program benefit us all.

It is chump change. NASA had a minuscule budget to start and its getting slashed every year, it's about a little over 17 billion now, that's less than .5% of us annual budget. It's freaking amazing how much they've accomplished with so little and it's sad to think of how many more advancements in research and technology could have been made if they didn't keep cutting off the little money the gov gave compared to other programs. God I wish u there were options to choose where ur taxes went to.

if clinton would have done a little more (military and intel) spending when he was in charge, 9/11 could have been avoided and we would have a reasonable military situation right now.

I don't know about all that but maybe. It's almost freaking 700 billion a year! Just a year of of military money is enough to find the entire 54 years of NASA's existence and then some. Lolz at at education budget as well.

no it couldn't have mate, sorry. 9/11 was not some highly skilled technologically advanced infiltration, we know that now c'mon dude. Our society simply got exposed, we could have had triple the military budget and it still wouldn't have stopped shit. They just stole one on us, just that simple. "Maybe", if we hadn't armed them in the 80's when they were fighting the rooskies...."MAYBE" that would have prevented them from being able to recruit as heavily as they were able to, but I doubt it.

and you missed my whole post about nasa's budget being so small, it wont even begin to solve any of the problems we have. Oh and if it wasn't for NASA, you wouldn't even have the modern tires your car has right now to drive on said shitty roads. tires would be popping like crazy especially in this heat and people would be dying like crazy in accidents.
you should skim over the US budget and see where real money is being spent.

actually, has anyone ever heard of the netflix videos called "TED Talks"? It's scientist giving lectures on random subjects and the newest findings. Anyway, one of the videos says that they've actually already found water AND micro organisms on mars and they're just waiting to release it for some reason. It was really weird to hear it there before the science channel or the news. Check out Ted talks on netflix and see what i'm talking about. I'm not sure which episode, but whichever has to do with space, etc.
PS. If you ever heard them talking about seeing some sort of ice near one of the poles i think, well, they didnt want to call it water because it couldve been something like frozen methane, or some other chemical. Anyway, turns out it's H2O, and it's got green Marsians inside it

Life on Mars is an interesting topic. There is some evidence for it, but no life on mars has ever been found, and the evidence has not been enough to substantiate the speculation.

He states very clearly what they found. Even if it is false somehow, i was merely presenting what i had heard. Just because you haven't heard it yet doesn't make it preposterous. It IS after all, the whole reason they went in the first place.
