i'm reading All the Pretty Horses, by cormac McCarthy who recently died (if you haven't read "the road" yet, you should. It's a great book about life after the apocalypse. i couldn't put it down).

I also took out "East and West" by Pearl Buck (she wrote The good earth, which is one of my favorite books).

After that, I don't know. i do know it won't contain any vampires though.
 
a recyled 1980's classic: "the witching hour" by anne rice.
 
i know this isn't what you were looking for when you started this thread, but, i'm a :nerd: and i have like 8 bi-monthly editions of "the value examiner, a professional development journal for the consulting disciplines" that i gotta get read. . .i'm a little behind. . .and, as i'm sure you can surmise, it's not the most tittilating reading. . .sigh. . .

YES, i remember that book and siddhartha being a book of good quotes.
There's another book you might like... fuck, what's the name of it...

i can picture the cover- it has a feather on it i think. dammit.

hold on, i'll look in my office. I think it's your kind of book- about a guy on a spiritual journey, but it's not just some pansy ass fag book.
 
A book about socrates..Why I have no knowledge as I cannot even pronounce the dudes name. Husband got quite the kick out of it..

He says "I saw you reading an interesting book about a famous author guy"

I says "what, oh I don't know." so I am thinking this guy has wrote some great novels. Hahahaha

So then I says to him "Yeah some stupid book socrates" and I pronounce it as So- Crates. like the word so and milk crate..

Yeah- but y'all know I aint to bright, so it's all good. Lol
