What are some things that you don't understand the appeal of?

Music so loud in your car it can be heard by others up to a block away; chihuahuas; pet reptiles; pet tarantulas; pants that hang down to expose underwear; penis piercings; staged porn; men without body hair; grotesquely large artificial breasts; Scientology; not going anywhere without being plugged into a cell phone or MP3 player.

Not down with Scientology?
Ohhh... losin some kewl points.
lol

Yeah, you got me on the last two of your list, the other ones I don't even have a problem with cause well, yeah, they aren;'t things that I'm pretty sure I have never even thought of.

We need to spend some time talking about Dianetics and how much of a stud L Ron Hubbard is.
J/K... freaks and freakshow.

Well, the specific title of the thread is "things you don't understand the appeal of." Everyone has the right to their own beliefs but any spiritual movement/ideology that has it's hands that deeply in your pockets is questionable and in fact that's a standard benchmark in the pagan community, how much money does the organization want out of you and how often. Certain fees are understandable and acceptable but when the amounts seem usurious run.

I certainly realize that my beliefs may be weird to people not familiar with paganism or Wicca, but put it this way, my tradition hosted a big magickal conference last year. The speakers were leaders in Solomonic tradition, Gnosticism, Druidism, Voudon, various forms of wicca and witchcraft and the founder of The Order of Saint Michael, which is an esoteric, ecumenical Christian community but uh, no Scientologists.

As for the cell phone/MP3 player thing, I just don't understand being plugged into something electronic 24/7, you can't think. I especially don't understand it when you're like out in the woods or something :whatever:

Women spending $800 on a purse

lowered trucks
and loud exhausts
Had a friend once lower a suburban.
Kewl bro, who had money and pioneered his ride in douchelike style.
Yeah I don't get the lowering cars as well.
I never got into tricking my ride out.

Democrats.......

(somebody had to say it)
+1
I'm a libertarian, though.
Dude I have a separate thread about me ranting bout family vs. personal political views.
Parents have a med school reunion Starting tomorrow in San Dog, and so they paid a visit to their baby boy. Kewl parents who I'm close too, but I hate having to sneak around late at night to have to go outside to smoke out ya know? Mom knows that smell all too well, and yeah I don't wanna have to entertain questions bout my frequency of smoking out. It will be nice tomorrow when its just me solo again.

Like the thing that always gets me when I first see the folks is how like amazing their marriage is. The 2 have been married for like 34 years and when couples meet them they are always asked like if they are newly weds. I always took them for granted, and thought most marriages were like that.
I used to think that's how most married peeps interact. That its normal for most marriages to have 2 peeps that close, open, and united. Only in my early 20s did I figure out that yeah, their thing is more of the exception and not the rule.

Sorry for the digression,
I've got these 3 hyper, little, asian doctors, mom, dad, uncle surrounding me at all times Im in the uncles' pad like telling me how Obama is the anti christ.
Shit is ridiculous. I think with the momentum things have been taking on recently, the golden age for this country has passed.
