The best quote that I heard regarditng this is that in China Bill Gates is Britney Spears, in America Britney Spears is Britney Spears, and that is the problem.
Thing is Chinese kids grow up in a culture that stresses matehmatics and sciences so much more. We lag behind really, really bad, so the thing is like our previous cultural strength of teaching innovation and creativity that fostered so much ingenuity, doesn't work anymore as well in electronics or engineering cause we don't understand the basics. U gotta understand the fundamentals in order to move past them.
Its predicted that in 10 years China and India will be neck and neck with the United States due to our lack of science and mathematics education in technology. I mean can U imagine what would happen to our IT technology if we did not allow Indians into the United States.
Yeah, better brush up on your Mandarin right now.

+1!!! Couldn't agree more. Not to mention the billions of dollars that our government is borrowing from China that we will have to pay interest on FOREVER. As well as the mind bogglingly huge trade defecit. I could go on and on..... *sigh*

I think China/India will control the global economy within 20 years. 50 tops.

I think it will be far less than 50 years, more like 20 at tops IMO and I have a feeling it will be China before India...
Everything goes in circles superpowers come and then they go, America has had its day, it's now moving away... China/India then possibly Japan. Russia will have its glory day as well but not in my life time.

I agree. I just wish America would learn from history and bow out gracefully. Hand the baton over to the next generation peacefully, you know? Since the end of the cold war America has become the most powerful nation in history. And when great nations try to cling to power at the end, it gets real ugly. And the more powerful the nation. The uglier it gets.

Unfortunately it will never happen and no one will ever bow out gracefully...
It would be seen as a weak person who took America in to that state and who lost its superpower status...
Why would Bush let it bow out gracefully - it would then lead him to be seen as a bad leader in the history books and among his people... It's much better for him to put blame on Obama...

Bush will be remembered for
1) Being elected twice
2) Leading hte country after 9/11.
The economy, ending the war, etc. will all be on Obama's hands. I still have no idea why on earth he would want this incredibly complex shitty job. Heaven help the person who wants a country after Bush has been fucking it up for 8 years.
People will be blaming Obama on day 2 of his presidency. He's in a lose/lose situation unless he pulls off some miracle.

Americans are generally too clueless to understand cause and effect. Doesn't help that the average attention span these days is less than the amount of time it takes to watch a movie. I try to tell myself it's always been like this. "The universe tends to unfold as it should." It kinda helps put a smile on my face.

we're the most powerful military ever, but we're not the most powerful nation ever. And in this sense I characterize power as the "sphere of influence"........land accumlated etc, etc. The british were bigger than us, Rome was bigger. In the end we really wont' have as big a say in the history books as the british, the romans, mongols etc. But that's more due to the difference in era's between us and them.
