Not a great way to start the day.
Some hunters came and woke us up about an hour after we had gotten to sleep to tell us they found a truck wrecked at the bottom of the hill and the guy was still inside.
Apparently, the hand was running late to work and went off the side of the road. His truck dropped about 25 feet before hitting the ground and rolling a good 75 feet to a stop.
Guess who got to go check to see, by some miracle, if he was still alive?
The top of the truck was crushed down until about 6 inches from the door. I found him on the passenger side (no seat belt) partially squeezed out of the window.
I won't go into details about how he looked, let's just say he was pretty messed up. Not a good image in your head first thing in the morning. I had to lay flat and reach in to check his pulse. Nothing. He was cold as ice.
His neck was certainly broken and there was blood splattered against the driver's side window.
I sincerely hope he was at least knocked unconcious before the end and he didn't have to sit there in the cold all night barely alive. It sucks to see someone like that after talking to him not 12 hours ago. Changes your outlook a bit.
