In the past week or so (and for a while now) I have seen several posters make pretty off-kilter (sp?) comments on age and maturity / knowledge. Let's settle this all right now, please:
1) Captain Obviouses - yes, we all know that as you get older, your mentality changes. Along with added experience and just longer time on this earth, you learn knew things and typically realize that you now know/understand more than you did a few years ago. Once again, overstating the obvious here.
2) Age DOES NOT EQUAL maturity. I think a lot of you here don't truly understand this. Age CERTAINLY does not guarantee maturity (I won't point out any examples, you all know what I mean). Getting older is not a feat you achieve - it's gonna happen no matter what you choose to do in life. So stop a) using age as a crutch to convince yourself you are automatically smarter/wiser/better than younger peeps and b) stop assigning a certain level of maturity/knowledge/intelligence to a person based on his/her age
3) For the younger peeps (younger being a relative word) - understand that there is a GREATchance that your values, beliefs, views, opinions and judgments will change as you increase in age. This is part of life.
