waxy maize thread!!

swole

Well-known member
bors. i can't believe this stuff isn't on every other thread. I finally got my stuff today. Took 30g of WMS with 23g of iso whey preworkout with 2g arginine. worked out. had a mega pump. just took 60g WMS with 23g iso whey and another 2g arginine post workout.

you can literally feel this stuff working. it takes me 10 minutes to drive home and i already feel my stomach on empty.

it's almost time for my 2 cans of tuna with balsamic and fat free plain yogurt.

here's a good thread on *gulp* body building dot com:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=883744

please forgive me, i found it while googling waxy maize.

i'm thinking about using it before all of my fat-free lean meals just like that dude mentioned

gentlemen, start experimenting with this stuff.

i just started using it muself. Im using one scoop PWO

1 scoop is only 30g, you working up to a higher dose? i'd start with at least 60g to get the desired insulin response

we have starch at work.

it's called pure-gel b990. it's food grade but i'm not sure what the major difference is between starch x and y.

OMEGA knows a ton about WMS. I'll be picking some up in the next couple days, getting ready for the diet.

80% faster absorbtion is one of the high points, right off hand.

you can get it at trueprotein.com. Here is what they say:

"True Protein’s Waxy Maize Starch is derived from natural corn starch and is a food grade modified starch. It is very bland in flavor and has a white fluffy like consistency. We recommend using a shaker cup or a blender (this is best) to mix this product. Immediate use is recommended as it has a tendency to clump. We have gone through great lengths testing and tweaking our Waxy Maize Starch to be palatable. We have found one that tastes fairly well and functionality wise it is top of the line.

So what’s so special with Waxy Maize in comparison to dextrose or maltodextrin? Many people have used a mix of dextrose and maltodextrin for post workout nutrition for years because it works and is vital for proper glycogen replenishment. Welcome to the new era of post workout nutrition… Waxy Maize Starch. WMS has a much higher molecular weight and a much lower osmolarity rate compared to dextrose or maltodextrin, so what does this mean… Mainly, WMS bypasses the stomach, is absorbed by the intestines and immediately is assimilated; this is all done at a much faster rate than dextrose or maltodextrin, almost double.

WMS can help the absorption rates of many of your favorite supplements like creatine monohydrate, creatine ethyl ester, cell volumization and nitric oxide type supplements, etc. Nutrients like this often times are left in the stomachs harsh acidic environment and degrade absorption rates. WMS helps shuttle these nutrients to bypass the stomach and allow the body to assimilate these nutrients at a much higher rate.

WMS has the ability to replenish the body’s glycogen stores much faster than a mix of maltodextrin or dextrose. This is accomplished again by WMS’s ability to bypass the stomach and go to the intestines for immediate absorption. WMS’s ability to shuttle all these nutrients and starch gives the body an immediate "pump" you can physically feel in your muscles post workout. You will see a much larger, fuller and rounder muscle belly.

Dextrose and maltodextrin can cause water retention and bloating, hence WMS’s popularity with pre contest and contest preparation carbohydrate replenishment. Many dieters choose WMS as their carb of choice as it is sugar free and an ideal source of a long chain complex carbohydrate.

We recommend starting with one 70 cc scoop post workout and see how your body responds."

Trueprotein has other lots of other good stuff too, and the best protein $ can buy at VERY good prices.

Try 50g's with your BCAA's and creatine PWO. Then take your protein 20 minutes later.
The starch can only carry so much weight. It is far more effective using seperately from protein.

Excellent post.

I bet it would be good for glutamine too which is not supposed to make it past the stomach.

I'm gonna buy some.

Waxi maize is the shit. Been using it for two months and love it!! I feel swollen from it all day long. Kinda felt like I was on when I was taking it and no gear. Shit is great.

$17 per container, 50 servings @ 35gs a peice. Best price on the net.

same thing would've cost you $14.28 at trueprotein.com.

(not trying to grand stand ya. just showing a good deal)

http://www.bulknutrition.com/?products_id=5952

trueprotein.com has this product already mixed for you too. It's called Post Work-Out (Amylocel Carb Up).

It is:
80% Amylocel (Waxy Maize Starch)
15% Creatine Monohydrate
5% Branch Chain Amino Acids

A Post-Workout Carbohydrate Formula accessing Waxy Maize's unique ability to shuttle nutritients quickly into the body using its molecular weight. This mix also provides the recommended dosage for both Creatine Monohydrate and Brach Chain Amino Acids.

It is $4.90/lb for 1-15 lbs. (For 16 lbs.+ it is $4.66/lb.)

There are 11, 40 gram servings per pound.

Trueprotein has the highest quality supps you can get. You can get everything seperately, or even custom make your own blends, or just choose from their already made blends. You can choose your flavor from a wide variety of flavors, what kind of sweetener you want (they have stevia as an option, as well as sucralose, aspartame, and acesulfame K), whether you want a protease enzyme added to your protein, or a vitamin/mineral mix added, or both.

And did I mention they have great prices...AND high quality???

I have been onlu using about 20-30 grams during my workout.....is 60 grams really needed, i thought th extra cards would just make me fatter or go to waste.

discuss.

i have used them many times before, not for waxy. their shipping prices are horrible and the general length of time it takes to get here isnt all that great either (seems like they drag their feet getting it out of the warehouse). this usually offsets any good pricing they have.

They ship UPS, and they already get a volume discount from UPS (probably not much though), and they don't mark up the shipping costs nor do they charge any extra for "handling" etc.

So, if you've used them multiple times then you have a 5% discount code, and probably used someone else's on your first order, right? So, you saved 5%. If you order 16 lbs or more of a product (say whey protein), you get an additional 5% off. That alone would probably take care of your shipping.

Another thing is, they are on the west coast, and you are east coast, no? So it's more expensive. They may someday get another facility in the midwest or something to help with that, but who knows.

I also don't mind paying a little more for quality (even though their product is highest quality at already low prices so I'm really not paying more). :p

Yeah they are probably not jacking up the costs. I am just used to alot of places giving free shipping if u order $50+. I am in the midwest so that is probably part of the extra cost. They do have good products.

If using waxy maize, do u use milk or strictly water?

I know some fear milk slow digestion, but then milk has substantial insulin-generating ability AND other growth factors (IGF-1)

water.

I consider it a must have.

30gs of waximaze, 8oz water, 1/3scoop gatorade.

One serving pre workout, one immediately post workout.

I love my waxi-maize :)

Swole, Guardian, or others, how are you guys liking the waxy maize?

Love it. the gains come so much quicker now that i have nailed my post workout nutrition down.

60g WMS mixed with some Crystal Light (props to Guardian for this tip), 10g BCAA'S and 10g glutamine peptides post workout. 20 min. later 50g whey protein. That's how I roll. :)

Thanks. I'm going to officially go broke from all the food and supplements, then later gear too....

Is it better to take glutamine with your pwo protein shake or with WMS? Also can I mix it with gatorade?

[B24] said:
as of my understanding

WMS + BCAAs and/or Glutamine and/or creatine etc = DIRECTLY post workout (some say 10 minutes before end of workout)

15-20 minutes later, protein.

sorry i cant help with the gatorade question, ive been wondering the same.
i have flavourless WMS and it is gnarly as hell with water, but its good stuff.

use some sugar free crystal light. it tastes great then.

Do you guys see a difference using this pre WO as well I've always used oat powder w/ whey & creatine pre WO; WMS and BCAA 10 mins before and during the WO and WMS/creatine post with hydro whey 15 mins later

I been using if for a week - 30g PWO with 10g glutamine + Bcca's. Whats the concensus on 60g pwo? Im on a cutter at the moment, low carb so the oppurtunity to re-glycogenat PWO appeals.

im not sure that kraft ships CL to australia? i was reading about it on the net last night and it didnt look promising.

theres sure to be some alternative or simular product, i'll just have to look.

when using somthing to flavour WMS, am i correct in saying that it should be sugar free, so as not to slow down the uptake of the maize?

correct! even dextrose can slow down waxy maize. that is how fast it is.

even when i am low carb i still use 60g for pwo.

i am unable to get Crystal light...i wonder if sugarfree jelly crystals would do the trick?

WMS tastes like chalk in water

ice tea will work as well. you certainly have access to that.

i had a look today, i thought of ice tea but the store didnt have any sugar free iced tea. ill check a different store next time, otherwise i'll give the sugarfree jelly crystals a try and go from there.

im loving the WMS though, messy as hell though.

Sup dude, I'd appreciate some insight on Pre/Post workout use of WMS.. I have a 5lb tub I bought - took a scoop and never tried it again. I normally don't take anything pre-wo since I have a large meal 120min before I lift.. I chomp down two bananas on my way out of the gym..when I get home 15min later I take down 75g of Protein.. I have a 16oz glass of skim milk an hour after that, and I am usually eating an hour or two after that..

i dont take it pre workout. i just have a whey shake.

PWO I've been using MHP Dark Matter and have been very happy with it. I throw in 10g glutamine and 10g BCAA's, 3g KA Creatine ontop of what is already in Dark Matter.

I might be better off getting some bulk order of pure waxy maize and adding bcaa's, glutamine, and creatine, but as an all around PWO product I'd say Dark Matter is pretty good
