Wal-Mart just gave my university $300 million

I guess it's going to be used for various departments, but as an endowment.

It's the largest donation in the history of US public higher education. Wal-Mart's world headquarters is right next to us.

Too bad they don't have anything generous for the sweatshop laborers that make their junk merchandise. Wal-Mart nearly topped the National Labor Coalition's list of companies abusing its laborers, behind Nike and just ahead of Abercrombie and Fitch, Sharper Image, and The Gap. In terms of sheer profit, though, Wal Mart is more than ten times beyond any other company measured by income generated by child/slave labor abuses.

Wal-Mart should give more than 300 million considering they are our nation's biggest monopoly and consistently pay their hard-working employees next to nothing.

If these employees do not like the pay, then do not fucking work at Wal-Mart.

America's men and women work hard, thus they should be paid fairly.....minimum wage upholds American values.

Wal Mart is a monopoly and Janet Reno before leaving office as United States Attorney General was considering charging Wal-Mart with anti-trust violations. Of course, Ashcroft, our attorney general, who is not only a religious zealot but pro-big business as well hasn't even considered the idea.

Target
K-Mart (moronic employees....no wonder they are bankrupt)

I will agree that Ashcroft is a moron and a disgrace to our Constitution.

everyone knows that Wal Mart has put thousands of smaller competitors out of business and now they are becoming the nation's most profitable grocer.

If the government doesn't interven eventually Wal Mart will dominate other markets as well...there must be a limit to Wal Mart's size. As soon as a democratic president takes office in 2005 I suspect anti-trust charges will be considered against Wal-Mart....and rightfully so.

Is that not one of the goals of a business? To out-perfrom your competition. If the other companies cannot survive, well that is their own fault. Leave it to the liberal government to punish a business that is not only successful, but obviously provides better products and services to its customers. Ideas and opinions such as this make me sick. And people say we live in a free country.

I'd be interested in knowing how many new, small retail business could successfully compete against Monop-Mart. Please enlighten us.

Growth must have a limit and its the government's role to define that limit.
