VATICAN CITY - A Vatican official has listed drugs, pollution, genetic manipulations as well as social and economic injustices as new areas of sinful behavior.

Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti said in an interview published Sunday by the Vatican's daily newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, that known sins increasingly manifest themselves as behavior that damages society as a whole.

"While sin used to concern mostly the individual, today it has mainly a social resonance, due to the phenomenon of globalization," said Girotti, who heads the Apostolic Penitentiary, a Vatican body that issues decisions on matters of conscience and grants absolutions.

I could care less who worships what God or religion. I'm speaking from my own experience with MY church here and what they did TO me.

If people want to give themselves to that BS they are offereing- GO FOR IT. I saw the light and it was NOT pretty.

Not like me to complain to anyone, however calling someones religion a farce requires rebuttal. Your entitled to your opinion, as am I - I find those that bash other people on the basis of their race, religion or gender to be low class. That is my opinion.

Your twisiting your point, I have a good heart - and do things that I don't even discuss to help others, but you appear to find it funny to "Bash" as you suggested, Catholics. That is a very different point then you are making now which is valid.

DId you know that when the bishop council here in the states finally set out to do something noteworthy about the problem that the vatican shut them down? I certainly didn't mean to offend your beliefs. I happened to have been raised Catholic, K-12, and was even accepted into a theological college in Ireland (I ended up in art schools)...believe me, anti-CLERICALISM runs rampant through academia, there. It's not important what my personal beliefs are, and I respect any individual's will to believe or not believe......but any institution's(religious, political, social, etc) 'pomp and circumstance' is solely a human construct, and if we can't laugh at ourselves, then, well let's laugh at healother. My family is so low class that they helped build their "church" with it's low class funds....My dad has his name on the 100K donation plaque in the main entry of our parish. I come from the lowest of scum.

My mom and dad spent 20 years sitting in the same pew at 10 AM mass. Invited priests to dinner once a month, cooked meals and delivered them to rectory each Thursday. We were "lucky", we had several priests who did not move around like most do. Father Mike had been with our parish for over twelve years- HE knew my folks well!


When my dad died. Father Mike did the high mass etc.. It's funny that after dad's death, he avoided my mom. He thought the funds were gonna dry up after the old man died.He had no more use for my mom until her death.

However, he had the fuckin nerve to ask me after my mom died if my their will still stated that another 60,000 was still bequested to the church. WTF? Dad told me that he had given a copy of his will to Father Mike loooooong ago. Pretty nice huh?

Would you like to know what my 7k at our Catholic school provided our lil girl? She was subjected to a bully. He became aggressive with my daughter. When I went INTO the school I was told this, " Gabrielle, you need to be more caring and understanding towards Cody. God left his entire flock to save one of his own". WTF? You want MY child to be the sacrficial (sp) lamb here? It gets deeper beyond this, but I really do not want to hash it all up cuz my blood pressure will rise.

Granted, there are some good people in the church. I just had some trouble finding ANYTHING good in the people in charge. It was all about the money..ALL.

They had the nerve to ask why I did not re-enroll my child in school the following year. I told them if they wanted to harbor kids with emotional issues and NOT put them in a special classroom, they could FORGET me sendimg my kid there. I found out later that Cody( the bully) had been thrown out of public schools all around town and our school was the only one who would take him cuz, after all, money is the God in their eyes. Soooo, screw you Gabrielle, your daughter means nothing when it comes to a paying family with a bully. I have NO problems IF they wanted to hire a techer for those type kids, just don't put them in a classroom with kids who are gonna get hurt.

Sorry, it's a VERY emotional part of my life...Low class as it is.

I won;t even get into the pedo cover-up with the church. Bishop Blair could NOT even save alllll the parishs in Toledo. He's closed two Catholic schools and SEVERAL churches due to decline in attendance after that mess...Gee, could it be that they had to pay off victims before they could save a few parishs too?

That is the point I made, if you stopped to read what I wrote, but calling someones religion a "farce" allows them to respond. I didn't call you low class, however I do find the behaviour of anyone attacking people on the basis of their religious beliefs low class. That is my opinion. I apologize if I misinterpreted your position.

Sorry to hear about all this, I had similar family experiences (Dad couldn't get last rites at death due to divorce, etc...).

The continuous attacks on Christians/Catholics here is demeaning, again people are entitled to their good and bad opinions, as am I. But sometimes its important to consider all the good things many of these people do on a daily basis and only the evils of the minority is extremely anti-Catholic.

If I had to bet, few if any people here even served a meal to person who was hungry.

I don't think we should debate this further, we clearly have different interpretations. Again, I had other difficult experiences of my own with the Church, but to solve that I found another Catholic Church that interprets family and social issues in a similar manner as myself.
