I just read a post on varicose veins and I wanted to mention that I have one in my left testicle. I was diagnosed with this when I was 15 years old. The doc told me that the only way I could get rid of mine was to go under the knife. He also said that it wasnt a need to do so unless I had a lot of pain from it, which I do on a rare occasion but not enough to justify operating. He also told me that this causes me to have lower test levels than the average male my age and that when I get older my test will drop off about one fourth more than its supposed to. I really cant tell a big difference yet as I am just 21 but I can tell some from when I was about 16. You guys think I could get a script for anything because of this?

I have the same thing, I'm 22. I was told my sperm count could be lower, but I wasn't aware that it could lower test levels. If this is the case, I'd get go to the doc and get tested. Hey, why not get some legal AS, especially if you need it. Maybe I'll go too :)

I have no knowledge or opinion on this subject, I do have one request however: please do not post pics to prove you have the varicose veins!

varicose vein
<anatomy, surgery> An abnormal swelling and tortuosity especially of the superficial veins of the legs.

varicocele
Varicose veins in the scrotum.

Varicose veins in the testicle, aka varicocele is a common problem in men and is found more often on the left side. This is b/c the left gonadal vein (the vein draining the testicle) drains into the left renal vein whereas the right gonadal vein drains directly into the inferior vena cava. This results in a higher resistance to flow in the left gonadal vein and causes it to dialate. As a result of this dilatation, blood tends to pool in the varicosity just above the testicle and causes a slight increase in the temp of the testicle. Testicles like to be cooler than body temp (thats why they hang outside our bodies) and when the temp is elevated the don't function properly. This can result in pain, atrophy of the testicle (shrinkage) decreased sperm count and decreased test. production. The operation to fix this proplem is relatively safe and effective in the hands of a good urologist.

Straining and lifting heavy will cause the problem to worsen b/c this increases the presure in the venous system. If you are experiency any dyscomfort I would suggest that you have the surgery.

Hope this helps

I JUST FOUND OUT A FEW WEEKS AGO I HAVE THE SAME THING ON THE LEFT SIDE. MY TEST LEVELS ARE ALMOST BACK TO NORMAL SINCE MY LAST CYCLE OF A.S. IF MY LEVELS DON'T GO BACK TO NORMAL' MY DOCTOR THINKS IT COULD BE BECAUSE OF THE VARICOSE VEIN, AND THEN HE SAID I MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT SURGERY. solidj55 ARE YOU CONSIDERING SURGERY????

I have been diagnosed with this also. The urologist I went to said not to worry about it unless I feel pain. However it did cause my sperm count to be a little bit lower than normal.

The operation is somewhat similar to a hernia operation. An incision through the abdomen (does not sound like fun) . Can usually start lifting again in 4-6 weeks. I have been putting this procedure off.

Let me know if any of you get some kind of script for this, I doubt it though.

Actually a lot of males have this condition present, (about 25%), but the varicocele is so little that they don't notice it. It's one of the most common causes of male infertility. Good news it is not really dangerous but when you have a big varicocele it can really cause some discomfort and somedays the varicocele just swells up and causes a dull pain in the testicle. Surgical removal of a varicocele is a pretty simple procedure, the incision is not really big and you can actually go home the same day. Surgery is recomended when there is pain and/or testicular shrinking due to the poor circulation in the testicle because of the varicocele (this causes infertility and low test production due to the afected testicle not working correctly).

vericocele

what's up. I went under the knife for this condition.
my test levels were not low, however my sperm count was. the operation was quick (drugs were good), recovery was painful for about 2 days but was fine after. stopped working out for about 2 months to make sure I didn't pop the sutures. havent had a problem since. :D

I am assuming your insurance coverd this right? Where was the incision? So after 2 days you could move around ok? I just dont know if I could stop working out for 2 months that sucks. It would be cool if they could go in through your nut sack. I think it would be better this way, cutting through the muscle of the adomen is where the pain is at.

i get alot of veins poking out in my forearms........doc told me to stop playing 'fist of fury' with myself :(

so now im forced to alternate hands..........hahaha!!!!!!!!

lolol 66

actaully my insurance covered 80 % of it. i could move around the same day just couldnt stand up up straight.
painful to walk around alot ( could walk from kitchen to bedroom) the incision was above the penis to the left. it did suck to stop working out for so long i was running the risk of losing my testicle (dont flame me!!!!) (for some reason, dont remember why. thats why i had surgery) and my sperm count is back to normal

what ? oh no....

Ming, what do you mean you were running the risk of loosing your testicle ??? why ?? please try to remember bro....
