Anyone got any info on deregulation? Good, bad, indifferent. I know in Cali it is a nightmare but in PA it working.

Also anyone heard of a company called ACN, Inc. ?

Thanks

Watcha wanna know.... I'm partially responsible for all this. LOL!!!! For real, I worked on dereg for 3 years in the mid atlantic region.

http://www.acninc.com/

There in telco.... I know that too. Hmmm

Ferc Order 636 dereged the gas industry.
Ferc Order 888 dereged the electric industry
FCC - The Telco act of 1996.

Anything else?

Two Reasons that California ended up in the mess.

1. And most important, I don't give a fuck what anyone else says, is that they california utilities were not allowed to lock in long term peak contracts of 15 - 20 years. Here in the NE/MA corridor those contracts are in place which creates a price ceiling.

2. They need to build about half of the power plants that all the power plant companies say are needed in California.

Wodin,

Well I guess I want to know is it a good deal for the consumers? I have a guy trying to recruit me and my agents into joining this ACN and becoming reps for them......selling phone service, utilities, i-net, etc.... All that is good but the real money would be in power and in AZ we aren't deregulated yet but I believe we are suppossed to be by 2003.

If I understand it right I would make 6% commish on everything but utilities which would be 3% commish. My average elec. bill is 275/mo so on mine alone it would be $8.25/mo. If I only had 500 contracts at that same level it would be 4125/mo extra coming in. Then on top of that the overrides from my agents and the people they sign up and etc... etc..... It definately won't come close to replacing my income now but it would be great extra cash flow.
MLM's I hate them but this could be a gold mine.....people don't have to take vitamins, use certain brand of soap, etc.. but they sure as fuck need to use power and the phone.

For your purpouses the margins on Telco and internet are razor thin. You would do fairly well in pushing the Electric / gas commodities. Right now the Gas futures markets are going down though and with the cali. issue you will see a price ceiling system in place across the country in the near future.

If you have the sells force and systems in place though you could do pretty well in the elec/gas market.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the input dude..... I have a sales force but with the fucking MLM you have to put up money and selling them on the idea might be a bitch.

I read somewhere that less than 5% of the people that do MLM's recoup their initial investment.

I dunno......might jump on it and see what happens....just didn't/don't want to put too much time into an unprofitable venture.

Yeah that's what I figured you were heading for. That's why I mention the margins being thin.
