hi there i am kind of confused and wanted to know if i could do 5set,5 reps with this routine instead on Frankie NY's original routine???

Monday=shoulders & biceps
military press=5setx5rep
db front press=3setx10rep
lateral raise=3setx10rep

bicep curl=5setx5rep
hammers=3setx10rep
cable curl =setx5rep

wednesday=chest & triceps
db flat bench press=5setx5rep
db incline=5setx5rep
db decline=3setx10rep
db flat bench flyes=3setx10rep

skull crushers=5setx5rep
close grip barbell press=5setx5rep
tricep push down=burnout

friday=back & legs
Lat Pulldown=5setx5rep
seated row=3setx10rep
bent over row=5setx5rep

squats=5setx5rep
leg press=5setx5rep

So:

3 shoulder exercises (two of which also his tris)
3 bicep exercises
4 chest exercises (three of which hit tris)
3 more tri exercises (we are up to 8 movements hitting tris)
3 back
2 leg movements, both of which are quad heavy (granted one does hit your hams and glutes if you go deep).

See anything else that might be troublesome here?

What are your goals bro?

This program is not good at all.

Maybe we can help you out here. Have you looked into the intermediate 5x5 or the 3x5? How the programming and progression works?

no i havent looked into them mate

my goals are now to cut up and gain strength and at the same time add mass

im currently 14stone now and i started at 9 and a half stone...been training for about 1 and a half years

im now trying to concentrate on what i eat and cut out the junk food because i know diet is very important but when i started working out i was eating anything and everything :)

i hope somebody can put a nice routine togehter for me..i

I just started on a 5x5 program, its pretty neat the way the progressions work, your 5x5 program doesn't promote the growth of Starr's, in Starr's there is only one day of actual 5x5, then a 4x5, then a 5,5,5,5,3,8, they are done in this formate to promote a rate of 2.5 pound weekly growth, which for someone who has been working out a few years is a big deal, apparently a lot of people don't do the assistance sets, I actually do them, but in the assistance set you will hit your abs and tris and bis like you NEED too, maybe not like you want to, but in conjunction with the core lifts (which are the point of 5x5) you should see the results your looking for. I will say that I'm in a fairly similar position, except on a time crunch, there is no possible way unless you are truly just beginning that you will gain a large amount of strength and mass, and lose fat at the same time, when you put on mass you will gain fat, if you need to cut, cut, then try to gain mass or better yet get into a bulking phase, then go into a cutting phase. I would still do this workout, and to gain or cut just control the amount of cardio you are doing and the amount of calories in your diet.
