Unprotected sex with female...what is my risk of HIV?

youre fucked you got a.i.ds

It is this kind of statement that propogates false information about hiv/aids. In fact the chances of catching hiv/aids from a women is very low. The chances of a man giving it to a women is very high. The men are more likely to catch it from using dirty needles while doing illicit drugs or by having sex anally. With anal sex there is more chance of getting a tear in the skin. I in fact have had unprotected sex with a women on two occasions who was hiv positive at the time, as I did not know, nor did she, that she had contracted it at the time. This only goes to disprove the above uneducated statement by "needtogetas" - no disrespect intended sir but you do not have your facts straight. I know when I found out she had I worried after the fact even though I knew I could do nothing about it so don't feel bad about worrying about it either, it's only natural in a case such as this. You of course must get tested a couple of times, once right away, and again in about 3 or 4 months as it does have an incubation time that must be factored in. Good luck and don't 'overly' worry about it as I believe your chances are very very good that you have not contracted hiv because of this one indiscretion.

I can't give you a percentile figure to reasure you as even a one percent chance is enough to contract any STD. Whenever you have unprotected sex, you need to regard any probable outcome as a factor of one:

It only takes one sperm to impregnate a woman.
It only takes one incident to contract an STD.
It only takes one unprotected sexual encounter to contract HIV.

Granted, there must be other factors present, but the risk is still there. Your best course of action is to go to a clinic and have an STD/HIV test. Antibodies in an HIV+ person will normally develop within 3 months (25 days on average) but can take upwards of 6 months to develop.

Until you know for sure that you are safe, don't expose anyone else.

Hope you get a clean bill of health mate.

Bro, the percentages are definitely in your favor...I agree that the chance is 99.99999% not to have been infected.....Also, the chance of impregnation (if you put any sperm in her) is approximately 1 in 30 (as she can only be impregnated during ovulation which is around a 24 hour period each month when the temperature in her vagina is the warmest of the month)....

Just a note: but even using a condom has risk---although very low

"No, condoms are not 100% effective at preventing HIV transmission; however, when used correctly and consistently, condoms are highly effective and reliable in reducing the risk of transmitting and acquiring HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The surest ways to avoid the sexual transmission of HIV (and other STDs) is:

1. to abstain from sex, or
2. to have sex with only one partner known be uninfected. The next surest way is to use condoms consistently and correctly during all penetrative sexual acts. When condoms do fail, it is most often because of improper and/or inconsistent use. "
