Unprotected sex with female...what is my risk of HIV?

Hello.

I recently had unprotected sex with a woman and was wondering what are MY chances of getting HIV?

Basically, I would like to know what % risk I am at IF she is infected.

From what I understand, the chances for a HIV- male to get HIV from a HIV+ female are quite low?

Thanks for any insight. :coffee:

This will sound like a lecture, but..

Dude, not sure on the % rate of female to male, but isnt it too late to get worried about it now? we know AIDS and HIV plus many more nastys are out there, in hundreds of people we pass in a busy street.

prevention is better than cure, this we already know. so knowing the risks you took them. even if the % was .0001%, people win lotteries all the time with more difficult odds. though HIV may not make you jump for joy.

so the angle here is, 100% is a certainty, but so is .0001%, its just a matter of timing. if the odds are 33% you could sleep with thousands of people and not get anything, but you might do it once and its all over.

stop looking at % as a buffer for safety bro.

start protecting yourself. unprotected sex is great, but the next day, did it make a difference whether you went natural of used a condom?

if you were lucky this time bro, remember this stress next time you are tempted by walking naked in the garden of eden.

Thanks for the lecture.. lmao.. j/k your comletely right. I am worrying about this when it is "too late to worry" about it. I was thinking with the wrong head at the time.

I was just curious about how much at risk I currently am. I will go get tested in a few months.

Thanks for your insight. k for you.

bump for more feedback

I can't give you a percentile figure to reasure you as even a one percent chance is enough to contract any STD. Whenever you have unprotected sex, you need to regard any probable outcome as a factor of one:

It only takes one sperm to impregnate a woman.
It only takes one incident to contract an STD.
It only takes one unprotected sexual encounter to contract HIV.

Granted, there must be other factors present, but the risk is still there. Your best course of action is to go to a clinic and have an STD/HIV test. Antibodies in an HIV+ person will normally develop within 3 months (25 days on average) but can take upwards of 6 months to develop.

Until you know for sure that you are safe, don't expose anyone else.

Hope you get a clean bill of health mate.

kian.. thankks for your feedback. I hope all is good as well. A lesson learned for me.

Make sure you 1. always use protection until you get engaged or atleast monogomous to the point where it will lead to an engagement 2. go get tested now and again in 6mos, and again 6mos after that. Some of the nasties out there lay dormant for quite some time so the first clean test may not be what it seems. Its scary as hell but its gotta be done.
