Why do all cops drive the same undercover cars (ford crown vic's or chevy impala's etc)

Like they are so easy to spot when im driving........

imagine if they used like different cars, we would get so many tickets and they would bust so many more people !!!

why don't they do this ? it has always made me think...

AND NO I AM NOT HOPING THAT THEY DO BUT I AM JUST CURIOUS

Yeah in Australia all plain-clothes police officers drive different cars....

but they all have the same mag wheels... so stupid! They must get a bulk discount

Because the city is only going to use cars that they get a major deal on. They must be getting those LTDs and Impalas dirt cheap, because niether one of them are considered super sellers.

Well I know for a fact the RCMP has Chrysler 300M, 300C, Chevy Cobalt, Malibu, Ford Mustang, Infiniti G35 and many other seized cars. But they're still easy to spot cause of the two antenas and the dash/back window strobe.

Most of those cars are serviced by the same garage -- so if they'e all the same vehicle type -- it saves them money in bulk parts, mechanics, downtime, etc.

Whenver you purchase a new type of vehicle -- you then either have to retrain your mechanics and stock up on new parts, or start a whole new relationship with another dealer to fix only that car. Very un-enticing option.

Which is why you can take a crown vic to any PD in the country and it can be fixed.

Not in NY. They drive all kinds of shit, some of the Puerto Rican detectives in Brooklyn are tatted out and drive Scalades and BMWs... You think they are street peeps till they pull that badge out on ya.

impalas crown victoria's are the standard cruiser....at least in the midwest.

but i've seen all kinds of undercover police cars from dodge strobes to mustangs to escorts, suburbans...etc. I think alot of them are from drug seizures...

They do use different cars, I've seen Jeeps, with windows tinted like a fuckin limo. I've also seen mini-vans.

The provincial police now has "riced up" cars. Yup, some Honda Civic Sir and Acura NSX (the ones I saw) with all the rice mods (body kit, spoiler, bunch of stickers). They go at the red light and dare you for a 1/4 mile" Many dumbass get caught this way...

in CA the CVD states that in order to work traffic enforcement, the police vehicle must be clearly marked and equiped with at least a single Red/and or including a Blue light to the front and ambers to the rear....
