My calves are effin smoked. I've never experienced this type of crippling DOMS lol

I'm up to sixty second rounds from barely being able to hit ten continuous reps after a week of skipping. I'd like to build myself up to 3 minute then 5 minute rounds. If you can skip for five minutes straight, then you're a bad mfer.

Rope skipping is super under rated and very fun.

Anyone else besides radar do these regularly?
 
i can skip for along damn time from muay thai and boxing. usually warmup with 5 3 minute rounds wit 1 minute breaks. calves at the moment are my one muscle im proud of
 
i cant do doubles worth shit, but try alternating skipping on 1 foot for a minute or however long you can go on each foot, then you will feel the burn. i actually almost rock a full plyo workout some days on skipping ropes. high knees, ankle to ass, jump as high as you can and tuck your knees into your chest is a mofo, all while skipping of course.
 
I got into jumping rope when I broke up with my ex and left it at her house..thanks for reminding me to pick up a new one. I have a wooden deck in the backyard and it makes alot of noise jumping on it and i can't do it in doors so I'll probably try the tennis court at night. I remember I could jump about 20 seconds and then trip over the rope. Sorry for rambling but is it really that good for cardio?
 
i really enjoy it for cardio cuz i hate running. i tell ya right now if im running im gonna be mad when i stop. i dont run for nothing. but it does kill the calves. you can dog it or you can rock n roll. it s all bout the effort you put in, just like wit anything. if you wanna rock n roll you can burn some damn good cals. if u think skippin rope is too easy try and see how long you can do it while doing full blown jump-knee tucks
 
if u enjoy skippin rope it will be good for ya. if u enjoy it u will do it more and harder. its just an option to running/eliptical/bball/ whatever. if u dont like skippin ur prolly not gonna get the most out of it.
 
Rope skipping burns more or has the potential to burn more calories than most forms of cardio.

I remember my middle school P.E. coach giving us a lecture at the beginning of the year on the benefits of rope skipping. He talked about how when he was in high school he had been abit pudgy and how he started rope skipping and built up to 15 minutes every day and within a couple months he had gotten fairly lean without much change in diet.

Supposedly fast paced rope skipping for 10 minutes is equal to 30 minutes of jogging. At one point in time I could jog at a solid pace for nearly 2 hours and I would say 45 minutes of fairly high rate rope skipping would definitely be harder imo.

I'm rope skipping among other things to start leaning my chubby ass out lol.
 
I like it at first but I suck at it and the more tired I get the more I suck so after a while I trip on the rope so often it just becomes so annoying I stop lol
