UFC tonight... Diego wins.

Unless the UFC has new rules I am unaware of - Josh is a complete idiot in the ring. Two or three times he had a hold of Diego's foot, with Diego not kicking or trying to pull away. A first year grappler would have ankle locked and won in 10 seconds (I remember Ken Shamrock getting beat with one of these back in the early days of the UFC). Or even some type of knee lock. Josh showed his utter lack of understanding/execution of finishing moves. That is what lost him the fight.

Diego could not sink in the guillotine - which he almost got at the very end of round two I believe before time ran out. Josh was able to shoot and throw Diego to the mat as easily as he did with Chris in their fight. The difference again was Josh having NO ground game or idea on how to finish.

Deigo might be the more well rounded fighter, but American wrestling showed again how well it trains fighters to shoot and takedown. It is just a matter of the fighter not being a complete putz and having some type of finishing move (i.e. ground & pound, simple submission). Diego of course was talking trash like he easily handled the fight, which made the split decision all the funnier.

It is hard to say what Josh was thinking. I agree, he should have threw on some type of leg/ankle submission, but when you take so many fists and knees to the head, you don't think clearly. It was obvious Josh had a pretty bad concussion. I'm sure he spent that night in the hospital. His face looked like a bruised tomato.

Well Diego was just laying there, not moving. I would have at least tried to hit the big Leg Drop on him.

A la the Hulkster????

Man those leg drops are brutal....I use to give my brother dead legs when we were growing up.....he'd get up to try and chase me, and fall flat on his stupid face..... ;)

I dunno If i'd sign on for a leglock having worked. Usually guys like Diego who have a real good guard are use to guys giving up on passing their guard and trying to take a leg. I have a feeling diego would of reacted too quick, grabbed the head and gotten top position.

LMOA@ The Hulkster

I had Diago picked as well but the fight wasn't nearly as interesting as I'd expected. Josh had so many opportunities for submission, but when he'd get Diago to the grown he'd do nothing.

Ya'll think I am playing. Man, I would have so hulke up and then dropped the leg across him. Would it have hurt? No. But it would have been embarrassing as hell and he would never have lived it down.

And what was that brief punch that Josh threw when Diego raised his legs and Josh looked like he was punching up under him to hit his ass? That was a gay little thing.

What I thought was funnier was when the referee interceded, stood both fighters up, BUT did NOT stand between them. Diego turned his back and Josh popped up with a hook to the head. Diego looks around with a whiney face "he hit me!! Waahhh!". The guys outside the ring were screaming foul.

Dana White narrated that it was a legal hit since the ref was not between them and Nevada gaming rules say to always protect yourself in the ring. Would have been funnier than hell if Josh had knocked him out with that one.
