What you all witnessed was two skilled grapplers going at it.
They both changed their game plans to counter the other fighter's skills.
It's obviously clear that Josh will have to learn how to use his hands if he wants to succeed in MMA fighting.
He's long and lean and had a nice reach advantage over Diego, but didn't let his hand go. Diego was pressing for most of the fight, but wanted to avoid Josh's take downs.
Josh did take Diego down at will and like most wrestlers, Josh didn't mind working from the guard. It's difficult to catch a good wrestler in a submission hold, which Diego almost did at the end of round one with the guillotine choke.
If you watch the match closely you can see really how good of a wrestler Josh is when they hit the mat. The way he is posting off of Diego's ankle, leg, and working his way up to Diego's head. These little techniques make it very hard for the bottom man to work away from the wrestler.
Overall, I felt it was one of the best fights yet.
Can't wait to see the light heavyweights go at it!!
