Well Seems all the monday morning quarterbacks are going to keep seconding guessing this one...Bottom line as far as I'm concerned is that they got what they happened cause they"the passengers" and the person driving were probably and I SAY AGAIN A BIG PROBABLY "meaning that it's possible it happened like this" were too blind to see soldiers or Soldier trying to wave them down to slow down...or Perhaps they could read the "Semi" International sign for SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!!!

But after thinking about this briefly and I doubt I will change my mind but had I tried waving them down, Firing a Warning shot, Obviously pointing my weapon at the vehicle, firing a few rounds into the Engine and the damn thing still kept comming I would have shot them too. Sad thing is those troops did what they should have and what most would have done and I bet they still feel guilty about it.

....when you have a driver who is gunning it towards a checkpoint and refuses to stop, what the fuck do you do? hesitate due to the fact women and children are in there, and run the risk of sacrificing your and your friends lives? or do you fire, and run the risk of killing potential innocents....

You risk killing innocents....PERIOD.

my point was i would have probably done what the soldiers in question did, and probably most here would have too. yes you;re risking killing innocents, but thats the nature of the job they are doing there

sooooooo...they had enough time, first to make sure that it wouldnt stop, to shoot in the air, to shoot at the engine, to shoot at the passangers and they were still so far away that they couldnt see the van was full of women and kids

Well, that just goes to show that the soldiers are STILL, (even after losing 4 of thier own to a suicide attack), giving people enough of a chance INCLUDING WARNING SHOTS to stop when told to...

so they either motioned for an approching van to stop some 200 meters away(hmmmmmm), or van was going 10/hour while they were shooting at it planning to run a checkpoint (hmmmmmmm), or somebody was triggerhappy and didnt give two shits about "sandniggers" (HMMMMMMMMMMMM)

Once again, you showcase your extreme stupidity... These soldiers are bringing food, water, medicine, and many other things to these people as the battles are over. Funny how most other Iraqis understand to stop when the soldiers tell them to... You must really hate the US... I understand that you don't live here, so that's really fine with me, but making statements about how military people should act in a combat situation having never been there yourself just shows how ignorant you are.

Funny how the majority of people understand that they have to stop. After the first suicide attack, and threats of more from the Iraqi VP, they're lucky we're allowing ANY refugees to run away. That we are allowing it shows that the military has a heart and is concerned about the humanitarian issues involved with this war.

That can very well be..and this is just a case of propaganda to make Muslims/Iraqis/etc hate Americans even more.

I wouldn't be surprised if their families get paid like that suicide bomber did. Of course, the Iraqis wouldn't disclose it...

Are Iraqi's just stupid? I'm really starting to wonder. When a bunch of Marines are telling you to stop your van and firing warning shots, you stop. How stupid can you be? I don't think you need a quality education to understand this. The same fate will happen to any vehicle that tries to run through a checkpoint. I don't know why people are making a big deal out of this. This is standard procedure. The Iraqi population needs to just stay home and let us feed them.
