Tylenol slow muscle growth?

I can't remember what it was, but years ago, I think I read somewhere that said either Tylenol or Aspirin prevents the muscle from rebuilding stronger. (Dan Duchaine maybe) I've gotten to the level where my "light" high rep weight is actually very heavy so I'm starting to get some pain in my left elbow every workout. I usually take a couple tylenol before I go to the gym, but I was wondering if this is going to slow down further gains. It hasn't done anything so far, but I was just curious.

Maybe so, but I'd rather be able to push the heavy weights than have to go light because of some nagging pain. I did read somewhere that it has some effect, but not a huge one. Dont quote me on that either.

Amen brotha.....no scientific proof anyways

I was actually looking for an older post about this, but found this thread in the search.

So, I guess that throws out the excuse "There's no scientific proof anyways"

Common sense rule: If injured, use after training. Just don't ever pop BEFORE, or in massive doses. But then again, common sense isn't so common....

Thanks for that article. Anyone have any luck with topical creams, aside from, mineral ice? MSM or glucosamine maybe? Would these slow down protein synthesis as well?

I have never found a study or any evidence of any kind linking G/C to any negative protein effects. The only negatives are folks with shellfish allergies.

Topicals should be fine.
