Whats up all. First post, although I've been lurking for some time now. Just reading here and there.

A lil about myself. I'm a 27 yo male, 6'1" and currently 210 lbs. and cutting. Been pretty serious into this lifting for about three years now.

On to my question. Who here uses TUT as a constant training principle? I've talked to other bro's through other boards that swear that true hypertrophy occurs when the muscle is under tension in the 30-70 sec bracket, not the usual 8-12 rep range. Just curious as to what everyones thoughts were to this and if anyone else incorperated it regularly.

Thanks to all :) .

IMHO, timing the amount of time you're lifting the weight isn't necessary. I tend to side with the argument that workload is the more important variable/measuremnt. But I'm FAR from an expert in the physiology behind either argument - just my .02

you have to look at what component is under tension.

A long slow negative with explosive concentric, or equal time frames for both. its not as simple as a number but the phase of the lift that matters to hypertrophy. the negative is the key to unlocking muscle damage, the positive (speed) is the key to unlocking strength. both are critical to improvement. the rep range has tons of variables too. its good to understand what your purpose is with a lift, then train it to acheive the goal with the proper tempo and rep range which will lead you to %1RM.
