True Grit Was Just Meh

Jeff Bridges was amazing (as expected) but the little girl was not likeable at all (no Kim Darby) and Matt Damon's acting did not hold a candle to Bridges'.

Plus, the Coen Brothers changed the story line slightly and I liked the original better. Feel free to wait for it on video.

Guess it's official; I'm a grumpy old man.

I found the original so I would have a basis for comparison. I agree that the odd little chick that played the girl in the old one was better. I thought both Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon were way superior though.

I haven't seen the Coen Brothers work, yet. But I believe they (Coen Bros) decided to stay closer to the novel with their interpretation.

I think it was awesome. Like you said, Bridges acting was dead-on. Watch it just for that.

Yeah, Damon's character/acting was eh.

It was entertaining, that's all. I think that the lille girl was awsom imo. Bridges was good, prolly will get an Oscar nod, as well as the little girl. Damon's character was written poorly, he is a better actor than that. Being from Texas, having a Tx Ranger be kind of a bumbleing noob was distracting to say the least. Those guys were hard older lawmen, not what they took licence to show in the movie. And what about the dialogue? It wasn't even good imo. It was a way to spend a couple of hours, that's about it for me.

Note to self: NEVER go see a remake of a movie that originally stared John Wayne.
