Training Frequency

GUARDIAN said:
i actually try to overtrain when on gear. i find i have super human recovery ability.

Curious what your overtraining split looks like. Mind posting it for me?

You have a better chance of over training your joints and tendons than your muscles. If your joints and tendons are holding up, then kill it. Work your muscles as often as you can. Obviously, working biceps 7 times a week won't do you much good but you can certainly increase your training volume and frequency compared to being off. For example, while off I train biceps twice a week. Once directly with curls and etc and once indirectly from back exercises. While I'm on, I train biceps three times a week. Once a week indirectly from back and twice a week directly with curls and etc.

For the record I would let that ass in your avatar take a shit in my mouth. Just an FYI.

ideally i would got with trying a double split with a 3 on and 1 off routine but i dont have time.

i have been a big proponent of a Doria Yates / Mentzer style of 1 set per exercise. I now only do this "off cycle". This is a 4 on 1 off.

On cycle I will go Chest/Bi's, Back & Tris & Calves, Shoulders & Forearms, Quads/Hams/Calves. I shoot for close to 20-25 sets per body part with everything to failure and alot of drop sets within. I may train 2 weeks in a row without a day off depending how I feel. Usually it is closer to once every 8 days.

I like your style. I think I went 21 days straight at one point. I can attribute that moslty to anadrol and tren. Although that was a couple years back.

Sometimes I know myself I am guilty of not getting as much protien as I should. I do eat like a starved horse 6 out of 7 days a week. Probably the part of my formula that needs improvement the most, I don't have the cleanest diet.

It is great that you started this thread.
I would appreciate it if you exaplain your workout routine in more detail.
Over how many days do you finish 20-25 sets per body part?
How much time do you give between workout sessions for a particular muscle group (for example, biceps, triceps, deltoids)? For example, every day, every other day, every 3 days, (or every 8 days)?
How many reps in a set?

This is exactly the thing I worry about the most in the gym. The thought of pushing too hard in turn tearing a tendon and being out of commision. I stretch as much as I can, at least I try and make a habit of reminding myself to stretch and warm up parts of my body before getting into heavy movments, mostly related to shoulders and legs. I am still haunted by the sound of a friend of mine tearing his pectoral muscle.

one reason i like boxing and sprinting for cardio, as it strengthens tendons.

When im on cycle, i train like a madman. i've found that when you eat like a horse its very hard to overtrain. Bench, squats and deads i do once a week, but most iso work ill do twice, but i will kill myself in the gym every time. hard for me to drive home my arms will be so pumped.

When I am driving home for the gym if the cell rings, I cant even answer it. I need to get the hands free set up with my stereo, no way in hell i will have the movement to hold it to my ear.

That sucks bro, try some cortisone injections...jk. I get it in my elbows and shoulders too. I avoid any types of braces though or tensor bandages, just weakens you in the long run.

Let's take this thread back to the subject if anyone wants to talk about their gear induced overtraining regimens.

Over how many days do you finish 20-25 sets per body part? 5-6
How much time do you give between workout sessions for a particular muscle group (for example, biceps, triceps, deltoids)? For example, every day, every other day, every 3 days, (or every 8 days)? as little as 5 days and as much as 7
How many reps in a set?8-12 for my main sets and i shoot for at least 6 during the drop sets. however i will go as high as 12-15 when i am not worried so much about strength gains.

^^^^^let me know if u got more questions. sorry i didnt notice this sooner.

I see great results with the Yates/Mentzer style. And as much as I love training...I try to get what I need to get done and gtfo.

I am too busy with school and life to sit around and pick my nose and bullshit with the other meat heads at the gym.
