There is NO WAY IMO, that you can be getting a good Hammy workout if you are doing them after quads. That is, unless you train quads like a bitch, or only do a couple sets of Leg Curls for Hammies. Not to mention, that you still have calves to do yet. If you are putting all you have into your quad workout---which you SHOULD be, considering that they can handle a pretty intense workload, then you should NOT have the energy to do a QUALITY Hammy wotkout, unless you have the time to do 2-a-days.

I started training quads and hams seperatley a couple of months ago. I'm able to lift alot more weight when training hams alone. This also alows me to go harder on quad day also because I know I dont have to save anything for hams afterward.

Split them up!

I split mine up mid last year, and my legs grew. After the first two weeks I could tell it made a big difference. It allows my to fully blast my hams on a separate day. Just watch what exercises you use so that you don't involve a lot of ham work too. I like to train my hams the day after quads. It helps stretch them out.

This was my best split ever

Am: Quads: Squats/ Leg presses/ Leg Extensions

Pm: Hams and Calves: Stiff leg Deads/ Leg Curls/ Calf raises superset Donkey Calf raises

I have moved my hamstring workout to the same day that I work back/biceps. I felt that working in leg curls with deadlifts really burns the hams, thus..................GROWTH.

I train the entire leg on my first day of my split. Quads and hams are good together as the blood flows in the same region and so will all nutrients during recovery.

I ALWAYS TRAIN SAME DAY, I TRAIN HAMMYS FIRST, 6-8 SETS, THEN SQUTS 3-4 SETS, THEN EXTENSIONS 4 SETS. TRAINING HAMS FIRST WARMS ME UP WELL AND DOES NOT SEEM TO HURT MY SQUAT.

if you train quads like your SUPPOSED TO (controlled annhilation, brutal weights with strict form, or total burn with moderate weights), you will not be able to do any other body part effectively or at all unless your doing some light supersets or something

There's no way that I can sufficiently train Hammies on the same day I train Quads. I like to train all of my bodyparts with maximum intensity, and there is just not enough energy left in my body after a quad workout to come close to getting an optimal hammie workout. Anyone that trains quads the way they should, should be splitting there workouts.

I Have to agree. You train quads like a beast...and you are too busy puking and trying to see where you are to do hamstrings....I do them with back.

I do hams with back, only because I do deadlifts with back.

Exactly. I train Back/Hams two days after my quad workout. When working quads, I will finish with 3 sets of 25 superstrict and slow reps on the laying leg curl machine. But this is just for the pump, since the hams have been indirectly contributing to my squats. My real workout for hams comes on back day. When they are fresh and ready to expand energy on building themselves, not acting as stablilizers.

I do all leg work same day.

I end up hitting hams twice/wk, once with quads, and once with back.

Leg thickness is starting to come in nicely :D

This is great, unless of course you work.

Definitly split up hams and quads and calfs. Quads should be an entire workout themselves. I add hams usually with back and sometimes I have done them with shoulders. Calfs I throw in twice a week after chest and after shoulders.

If you do hams the same day as quads train them first. If you train quads first, and train them right, forget getting a half way decent ham workout and totally forget a good one.

i always train the entire lower part the same day, quads, hams, calves

Me 2. But I ussually play with my calves 3x a week.

Seperating them might allow you to do more wieght and not get so exhausted.

Together you will start wearing on your hams when doing quads. Might not be able to do as many sets or high wieght but the work is there.

Always do quads and hams on the same day......it's worked fine so far.

1. Squats
2. Presses
3. Stiff leggers or lunges
4. Curls
5. Extensions
