From what I noticed, it's usally the partners with some help from their parents (if needed). Things aren't really one way anymore.

depends on the age of the peeps getting married... My wife and I paid 95% of our wedding ourselves - I couldn't really expect mine nor her parents to pay when we are both 30.

Cost were split down the middle.
