torture, how would you do it?

Stress positions, white noise, water dripping on the head, sensory deprivation etc., breaking the mind rather than the body like ripping out finger / toe nails etc.

If I were torturing someone my first step would be to strap them securely in a wooden chair built like an old electric chair. I'd clamp their head in place with something like a vicegrip connected to the chairback so that they were completely unable to move their head at all. The clamp would hold their head only on the sides, leaving their face and top of head free to work with.
I'd set up a full length mirror in front of their face. Then I'd remove their eyelids. Then I'd scalp them. At this point I'd leave them alone for a few hours to look at their lidless eyes and exposed skull.
Then I'd return, and working mostly from behind and the sides as not to obstruct their view in the mirror, I'd remove their face. I'd leave their tongue and lips intact in case there was some information I or my employee needed from this person.
I doubt I'd need to do anymore work than this if I wanted to extract information, but in the rare case that more was required, I could begin working on the body.

The mental aspect of torture is extremely important.
So you have to disorient them first. Not let them know what day it is, where they are, what will happen tomorrow, who they'll meet tomorrow. You constantly disorient them. They can't know where they are, who you are, what country they are in, day or night, etc. No routine in their lives.
Then after that, you just show them the torture tools and let them know what'll happen, probably show someone else being tortured. Try to remove all roadblocks to them giving you the info you want. Make them distrust and hate the poeple they are protecting. If that doens't work, you use the tools. However after a severe bout of torture, you administer painkillers to kill the pain. After administring the painkillers, shut them off (ie, inject morphine, then inject narcan) and resume the torture. The fact that you can stop the pain makes the person realize he can stop it anytime.

i think the movie Audition did it best. slowly amputating extremities. piercing eye balls. puncturing testicles. shoving sharp objects into orifices. cutting someones balls off with a pair of long, shiny, scissors. ear drums ruptured by pencils. disemboweling. wrapping the intestines around their neck like a lei. i believe it was Crazy Horse or maybe Geronimo who could remove a mans heart so quickly that the victim was still alive to witness him taking a bite out of it. but just think, everything that was mentioned in this thread, has been done to someone. how do you like dem' apples?

Nothing drastic just smash the fuck outta both hands with a hammer casino style so they have to think about me every times some else has to wipe their ass for them. And maybe do the same to their feet for good measure.

if i was on the reciprocating end of this i would be dead before they could torture me. i would fight to the death. like those poor guys that got kidnapped in iraq, if that was me they would have to kill me on the spot if not i would just continously dive head first on the ground till my head was bashed in. them fuckers in iraq live off our fear i would show them no fear and fucking spit in there faces.
