Torso

Hey, can someone show me what excercises lead to a built torso. I dont want to be the think waist V shape guy, I prefer the straight down built look.

How can I work out obliques and you know that muscle area around the waist thats above your pelvis, whats that called and how do you get it?

Does that book, Starting Strength tell you about all this? (Link to buy please?)

Heavy free weight core lifts:

ATF Squatting 3x week, no belt

Standing barbell over head presses

I attribute those to taking away my beautiful girlish figure I had before, LOL.

ATF squatting? Whats ATF? Sorry... also, do you know what that muscle is called thats at your belt line and leads into pelvis.

Ass To Floor.

This is covered in other threads but, here are some other lifts for a solid core:

Overhead squats
All Olympic Lifts
One arm Snatch
Very heavy weighted crunches (50lb+)
Ab Wheel (add weight vest if these are easy)
Deadlift
One arm deadlift
Good mornings
bent rows
All types of cleans

The real secret to a solid core is to stand while doing all other lifts. The only lift that should be performed while seated or laying down is the bench press.
