I totally disagree. When the players can't take out their frustrations with the fighting, that's when the dirty hits and cheap shots start increasing. And I really don't think it is fair to compare the incredibly fast pase game of hockey to track athletes.

Bullshit. Where did you get that, the NHL propoganda book? Is there fighting allowed in the NBA or the NFL? No. Are they infinitely more popular than the NHL? Yes.

The NHL breeds the mentality 'an eye for an eye'. This is the result of that crap.

We aren't talking about Football or Basketball....we are talking about Hockey...fighting was a part of hockey and should remain a part.

Man...the UFC would go belly up if fighting wasn't allowed in that sport.

Let's be realistic. Hockey is a rough game with rules and penalties that encourage and allow fighting. It's part of the NHL game that many fans like to see. Don't you expect someone to get hurt once in a while?
I say give Bertuzzi a big fine and a couple week suspension. Criminal charges are a bit much. Hockey players fight and cheapshot each other. Nascar guys bump and crash each other. Boxers punch each other. Footbal players lay each other out all the time. Pitchers been each other with baseballs and then fight. Many sports have some violence that is not allowed outside of it's arena. Criminal charges aren't used to settle disputes there either.

Perhaps we're not but are you saying that it isn't reasonable to compare the so-called 'major sports'? (I say so-called because due to decades of idiocy in the NHL offices, it doesn't warrant major sport status when compared with the NBA and NFL)

The NBA and especially the NFL can be rough sports and although there are occasionally fights, neither league seems to think they need to allow one-on-one fist fights 'to keep them from taking out their frustrations with cheap shots etc.'.

Bertuzzi is a fucking coward. I understand fighting is part of the game, but you don't punch someone in the back of the neck from behind like that. If he ever does go back to the NHL (which I hope he doesn't) I hope someone does it too him.
