Bro,

I have a question for you...
I recently bought a piece of property on Bayview drive off of Sunrise Blvd. I bought it for seasonal rental purposes only but right now I am in the process of remodeling it so its vacant. I went there for the weekend because I figured I'd go to the beach and maybe have a nice dinner with the girl down on Los Olas.

Where Im going with this is that, Ft Lauderdale beach, right in front of Beach Place was loaded with dudes... All dudes... I didnt know it was a gay hot spot for spring break... I dont understand how ballsy some of those guys are.. I am a straight guy, and I would never do or say the stuff that most of those men do towards other men.. I honestly felt uncomfortable walking around with my shrit off, and I was hand in hand with my girl... Is it just a thing that they are very aggressive or was it just a lack of respect.. I mean those guys were freaking animals....

Just a thought I had because I know you seem to be annoyed with some of the drama you see down there as well...
Am I overreacting or is that a new trend?

I moved away from Pompano Beach in late 2003, but even back then, after Beach Place was built, it was sort of the place to hang out, but never got to be more than a tourist place. Further "the strip" has slowed down alot. No more "dance clubs" on the beach anymore - just the rip off beach shops & some bars. So I'm not sure where you go for a nice hangout w/ your girl. Probably have to head to downtown to really get "clubs". Las Olas is very gay tho, so not a big reach if Beach Place has become the extended hang out....

Directly across the street from Beach Place is where the posers hang out. That is the straight beach. About a hundred steps north, at the redlight where the marker reads Sebastin, there there is a lifeguard shack on the beach to the right, that section is the gay beach. Between the tweenage poser beach and the gay beach, there is one area of the wall open for an entrance with a shower at the top step. You enter there and go to the right, that is straight, to the left - gay.

If you take A1A all the way north, to where the beach side parking ends (past Sunrise), you will end up at the end of the beach where there are some grayish condos (five floors) and a Key West style hotel (I think it is a Best Western or a Hyatt) the very last public beach you can access there is a secluded gay beach as well. Not very well known, not frequented that much, but the cruise factor is off the charts. Mainly because it is so private as the sea oats block the view from the street. I have seen people openly having sex against the back sand there.

Same way with the nude beach Haulover. You enter and go to the left end, that is gay, the right end is gay.

At springbreak, a lot of gay guys just congregate in the closest location of food, alcohol, ocean. Which happens to be in front on Beach Place.
