Man, it seems like only yesterday Silverstar posted this thread about weekend plans and such... this week flew by so fast, but I work today only a half day and then I get to house sit my Uncle's huge 4000 square foot pad for a week, S O will be coming over, but pretty much me enjoying whirlpools, solitude, giant flatscreens, courtesy of my -I own a house in Montecatini Italy- Uncle. Solitude in style, can't beat that. For a poor grad student this is heaven. This mendicant for style would love to hear your guys's itinerary or relaxation plans. I hope this weekend rocks for all of us. :)

Sounds like you will have a good time in a fancy home.

I am working from home today so not much pressure. My girlfriend is turning 35 tomorrow so she is having a birthday dinner that we will attend. Other than that nothing else going on this weekend just take it easy on Sunday.

I wish I could work at home, no I don't my shit would never get anything done, 35 is the new 27, I mean if one works out, eats healthy, doesn't smoke, regulates alchohol, they can look really good as they get older. 35 is right around the corner for me... oh well 35 is still really young in my book now.

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend.

today is my last day at this job. we are all going out to lunch.
My daughter has a friend staying with us for the weekend and my son is working the art gallery at the local state fair, which gets him into the rest of the fair for free. (yay, him!)

I start my new job on monday, so i'm hoping to have some time this weekend to clean my house, and maybe buy myself an outfit.

stilleto, good luck on your new gig. Im sure you're excited.
Im going to try to make more progress with preparing the house for sale. All the redecorating is done with the exception of the new carpet which will be done in about 10 days. this is taking forever.
but, we need to clean and declutter things in the meantime which means throw a lot of shit out and I love that part!
dinner at my MIL house on Saturday night.
im sure i'll be couching it a lot too

thats so awesome that you have instilled the appreciation for art in your son, I had no such influence growing up, and am a total philistine when it comes to art... like I have no art culture whatsoever, whenever art conversations come up, and they do more often than not on campus, in coffeeshops, I have no fucking clue, so I just keep quiet... wish I had more artistic appreciation, but I don't. Dude get all that shit done early, so you can just chill sunday and embrace nothingness... well you know what I mean. I'm glad that you got your due... and it all begins monday... good stuff.

Man, I would help out if we were neighbors, but man... rough, cleaning.... declutterring... after that I would take permanent refuge on couch till monday.
Good luck smurf... I uhhhh... wil be with you in spirit.

I am outside cutting logs to throw into my fireplace, I have no heater in this house (too poor) - I went green.

Have a great weekend Ariel and all.

ugh, i don't envy you. getting your house "show ready" is a lot of work. Just throw out everything you don't want to have to unpack.

You're going to feel SOOOO good when it's all done though.
I have to de-clutter too. I've been using my dining room as my office, but it's starting to get messy. and dusty.

It does fly by fast. I've got the weekend and following week to myself as the wife and kids are going away to the cottage while I'm staying back home. I tend not to do well when I'm completely disconnected from the 'Net and I hate bugs.

"Sweetheart, man left the jungle...why go back?"

As for work, my clients are two States away so I only go in when I've got a meeting locally. These past few weeks have offered a different perspective on things.

It's a holiday on Monday too in Canada.

Stilleto, good luck in the new jobs!

Have a great weekend everyone!

My wife and I will be going to a dinner party tonight but Saturday is for chopping wood from the trees that I cut down in the early spring and Sunday will be usual family bruch that I cook while they go to church then I will work on preparing schedules/ plans for the following week all afternoon. I will squeeze in about 4 hours of techical reading to stay up on changes in the industry. A typical weekend for me... chores on saturday, family time sunday morning then work on sunday afternoon.

Lame here.

Going to the gym Sat / Sun. At least I can sleep in a little most weekdays I am there at 6:20am.

Doing yard work, laundry, grocery shopping. I think we are taking in dinner and a move on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. I want to see The Dark Knight and she wants to see Sex in the City. We'll see what happens.

Maybe a little "sexy time" as well?

Good luck Stilleto.

Enjoy the pimp pad Ariel!

Honestly the best thing for me and I know it, is to accompany your family to the cottage and take refuge from this new stimulation that I have entrenched myself in... I am taking a break soon, I haven't even read a book, outside of class reading and research, and I know my post synaptic dopamine receptors are pretty much habituated on me posting here... but thats really cool that your family takes electronic time outs to enjoy nature... so healthy for the psyche.

I'm a city guy. I tried camping twice and was MISERABLE to deal with. I tried the cottage once and was MISERABLE to deal with. Now, I'm banned from being away from my computer and PS3.

I'm not even going to comment on your lifestyle and how you managed it so well with clear cut ideas and a plan, but its so much more than that... I mean moods come and go, and perceptions are altered, and thats why most can't stick to the plan... you have done it though. You really made me think when you said you were teaching your kids hierarchy of needs principles and how to think critically, part of my project revolves around the idea that there needs to be implemented in our education system a sort of critical thinking education that promotes how to discern what should really be valued instead of just being conditioned by marketing stimulation. Kids consciousness is studied through surveillance, they figure out what stimulates them, then blare it back at them... watch saturday morning tv and notice how frantic, hyped up, and pervasively violent it is in its own way. Anyway, I really am impressed with how you have primed awareness in your self and your family. One example it can be done. But yes, in the end you are correct it is alot easier to be spiritual when you have capital.

I have a rather unenviable weekend. Since August is a slow month for us, nay all of finance, I won't actually have to do too much work. I will most likely follow my usual ritual of going to the movies Friday night. Dragging my sorry ass to the gym sat/sun, food shopping, laundry, catching up on some reading my boss asked me to do on accounting regs (I think interpreting SFAS 157). Then I'll do some reading of my own and work on this advanced financial modeling online module that I signed up for at the suggestion of some investment banking friends. So, yeah, that's it.

The funny thing is I imagine Emerson lending out his land and house to Thoreau, and him writing these magnificent ideas that reflected his awareness, I mean he would see beauty in just grass growing, and he busted his ass in the day through hard work, and wrote in the evening... I brought some class books to read, and should throw the laptop back in the car, well we shall see.
CT atleast you are working out, I have taken the last 2 weeks off and am getting soft and will start on monday. I hope you enjoy the dark knight I haven't seen it but hear nothing but Ledger embodying archetypal insanity in style... I could never be an actor and go through the mood changes that they have to endure to create what they do. I think that is absolutely nuts... lucrative nuts... but crazy.

Please tell me atleast you will do some of this dreariness at the coffee shop where atleast the atmosphere is juxtaposed with the advanced financial modeling online module thing that you must do... it sounds like it would be wise to pursue that JR76, do not let my beatnik ways which are not lucrative in any shape or form, halt progress... no but atleast do it where you can be stimulated by an errant convo... and hopefully the errant convo is someone like me verbally spraying folderol like a yard sprinkler. Atleast it will entertain for a minute or two. Lemme know what you saw friday night...

Ariel... my motivations and actions are driven by experience. I did not grow up dirt poor but was definitely not from a priviledged family. My parents were divorced when I was 8. I developed a drug problem starting at 12 (it was the 70s), at 16 I killed and old woman in a car wreck and was ostrasized by many at school even though I was acquitted of the vehicular homicide charges, I did 2 stints in juvie ( one for hunting down and taking some guys down hard with a baseball bat that jumped my brother, the second for throwing a star football player out a window for picking on a retarded kid), my drug problems worsened and I ran with the wrong crowd that put me in the ACI for double assault with a deadly weapon for taking 2 guys out with a knife in a big fight, I got hooked on heroin. I kicked all this and straightened my life out. I worked hard and got 3 degrees along with half a dozen professional certifications. I was married and divorced. I lost a few million dollars in business dealing that went bad and the divorce. I have climbed back to the top and have everything now with my family that defines my life for me and gives me all the positive motivation that I need. My experiences make me hard on others. If I can fix my life then I accept no excuses from anyone.

I am determined that my children will never go through what I went through. They will be prepared to make good decisions in life. I see many young people at work whose parents have failed to prepare them for the world. My kids won't be like that. I really believe I am raising them to be future leaders with the minds/ hearts of warriors and philosopher kings/ queens. I ask for no quarter and I give no quarter. Life is something to be won or lost. My family will win.

I was supposed to be in NY this weekend, but now I have to be around to work today. I'll probably hang out with friends that I've been neglecting lately.

I have nothing going on for the weekend and I have today off. And it's beautiful outside, I need to figure out something to do.

Hanging out with neglected friends is what the weekend is for... or hiding from them, in my case, Have fun with your neglects, yur guy, and diving. Something I could never do...

You should just take today off and reflect. Actually, thats my answer for everything, but it has some + but in too much some -

Unfortunately I missed out on your man troubles thread... but I think if you really want it too, it will work in your favor...

when it rains it pours.

the more girls you date, the less you care about any individual one.
more options = more power

although the last time this happened i liked one alot and dropped the others. we stopped dating like a couple of weeks later and i was left girlless lol

this is GD's turboslut theory in full effect. couple of the girls are just average, couple are pretty cute, and one is really cute.

soooooooo.fuck you puds and jnev

lmao, Silver...

Got the k message...

I'll swing by your house at 10pm. We can go for cheesecake. It's more then a coke. ;)

Clean the house
Change diapers
Offer to stay with the baby so the whatever she is can get out for a little bit instead of being couped up in the house and resenting me for, I don't know, working?
Maybe get to the gym
Hang out in a house that's getting as tense as it was before finding out about the baby.

Yeah. Just too bad I think it'll be a lifetime of shared holidays, child support, and her mom using her to get what she wants from me.

Hmm you can always plant drugs on her and then show that you are the best parent. You will have custody then and no games to deal with. I am kidding of course.

It just sucks that people are that way. It is the child that hurts the most in all the games. If something happened to my marriage I don't care what the heck he did to me it doesn't change that he is the father and the kids need their father. I can't stand that shit. I watched my dad go through that shit with my half sister he paid child support and never got to see her. The mom would even take him back to court every time he got a new car or something because she figured if he is buying new things he must have more money. Dumb bitches!
