Time is literally Flying... Its Friday bishes... -thread-

It does fly by fast. I've got the weekend and following week to myself as the wife and kids are going away to the cottage while I'm staying back home. I tend not to do well when I'm completely disconnected from the 'Net and I hate bugs.

"Sweetheart, man left the jungle...why go back?"

As for work, my clients are two States away so I only go in when I've got a meeting locally. These past few weeks have offered a different perspective on things.

It's a holiday on Monday too in Canada.

Stilleto, good luck in the new jobs!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Man, it seems like only yesterday Silverstar posted this thread about weekend plans and such... this week flew by so fast, but I work today only a half day and then I get to house sit my Uncle's huge 4000 square foot pad for a week, S O will be coming over, but pretty much me enjoying whirlpools, solitude, giant flatscreens, courtesy of my -I own a house in Montecatini Italy- Uncle. Solitude in style, can't beat that. For a poor grad student this is heaven. This mendicant for style would love to hear your guys's itinerary or relaxation plans. I hope this weekend rocks for all of us. :)

My wife and I will be going to a dinner party tonight but Saturday is for chopping wood from the trees that I cut down in the early spring and Sunday will be usual family bruch that I cook while they go to church then I will work on preparing schedules/ plans for the following week all afternoon. I will squeeze in about 4 hours of techical reading to stay up on changes in the industry. A typical weekend for me... chores on saturday, family time sunday morning then work on sunday afternoon.

Lame here.

Going to the gym Sat / Sun. At least I can sleep in a little most weekdays I am there at 6:20am.

Doing yard work, laundry, grocery shopping. I think we are taking in dinner and a move on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. I want to see The Dark Knight and she wants to see Sex in the City. We'll see what happens.

Maybe a little "sexy time" as well?

Good luck Stilleto.

Enjoy the pimp pad Ariel!

Honestly the best thing for me and I know it, is to accompany your family to the cottage and take refuge from this new stimulation that I have entrenched myself in... I am taking a break soon, I haven't even read a book, outside of class reading and research, and I know my post synaptic dopamine receptors are pretty much habituated on me posting here... but thats really cool that your family takes electronic time outs to enjoy nature... so healthy for the psyche.

I'm a city guy. I tried camping twice and was MISERABLE to deal with. I tried the cottage once and was MISERABLE to deal with. Now, I'm banned from being away from my computer and PS3.

I'm not even going to comment on your lifestyle and how you managed it so well with clear cut ideas and a plan, but its so much more than that... I mean moods come and go, and perceptions are altered, and thats why most can't stick to the plan... you have done it though. You really made me think when you said you were teaching your kids hierarchy of needs principles and how to think critically, part of my project revolves around the idea that there needs to be implemented in our education system a sort of critical thinking education that promotes how to discern what should really be valued instead of just being conditioned by marketing stimulation. Kids consciousness is studied through surveillance, they figure out what stimulates them, then blare it back at them... watch saturday morning tv and notice how frantic, hyped up, and pervasively violent it is in its own way. Anyway, I really am impressed with how you have primed awareness in your self and your family. One example it can be done. But yes, in the end you are correct it is alot easier to be spiritual when you have capital.

I have a rather unenviable weekend. Since August is a slow month for us, nay all of finance, I won't actually have to do too much work. I will most likely follow my usual ritual of going to the movies Friday night. Dragging my sorry ass to the gym sat/sun, food shopping, laundry, catching up on some reading my boss asked me to do on accounting regs (I think interpreting SFAS 157). Then I'll do some reading of my own and work on this advanced financial modeling online module that I signed up for at the suggestion of some investment banking friends. So, yeah, that's it.

The funny thing is I imagine Emerson lending out his land and house to Thoreau, and him writing these magnificent ideas that reflected his awareness, I mean he would see beauty in just grass growing, and he busted his ass in the day through hard work, and wrote in the evening... I brought some class books to read, and should throw the laptop back in the car, well we shall see.
CT atleast you are working out, I have taken the last 2 weeks off and am getting soft and will start on monday. I hope you enjoy the dark knight I haven't seen it but hear nothing but Ledger embodying archetypal insanity in style... I could never be an actor and go through the mood changes that they have to endure to create what they do. I think that is absolutely nuts... lucrative nuts... but crazy.
