Time between cardio question

They say that you should not allow more than 48 hours pass between your cardio workouts or else the benefits are lost. Is this really true?

If I was to do cardio on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays but missed Monday and Tuesday, does this really not benefit me?

I remember seeing a study way back which showed that you could do cardio Mon, Tue, Wed and it'd have the same long-term benefits as any other three-day combination. From my own personal experience the 48-hour rule is nonsense.

That's what I firgured because it really made no senese to me why letting a few days in between would make you lose the benefits.

Maybe it changes once you get to be an elite athlete in top contest form but I reckon mere mortals can work out whenever is convenient.

never heard of that... I had to take a few days off once, because I as doing double cardio and it got me really bad on my knees.

with daily cardio never had it...right now 6x/week and steady

I think it depends on what u do. I wouldn't do 2 hard days in a row. I always take 1 day off a week. I don't know what u do for cardio but I wouldn't do anything super hard for 2 days in a row. If u go to the gym and do cardio and stay until u can barely walk out alive, then don't do that much the next day. Give it a day or 2. But I usually don't like to totally just do nothing on a day after a hard workout. I go for a light jog or something - just to keep from feeling all sore and stiff the next day. But if u go to the gym and just get a good, normal, 25-35 minutes of steady cardio ... u can probably go almost every day. I would always take at least 1 day off a week. Just listen to your body. Your body always knows when it wants more or less.
