I started on a cutting type of diet and I like the format of how the meals work & how the carbs zig zag, but I can't seem to stick to it.....on the weekends I just go completely off it, don't track my foods, drink, go out for ice cream, etc.....

Any plan I follow I can't stick to.....feeling very un-motivated cuz I'm not happy with how I'm looking but can't stick to what I need to do to change it....

feeling helpless...

Hmmm, this is tough. The motivation has to come from you - nobody else can help you with that. I feel for you, because I just went through this a couple months ago. I got sick this spring, then it took about 2 months to get even REMOTELY back on track.

Maybe you need a break or a change in direction. Can you focus on a different KIND of training or diet plan for a couple months? For example, I know awhile back you were getting into running. Maybe focus on doing a couple short races (5k). The nutrition you need for running is different than weight lifting/bodybuilding. The change in golas might help you focus your desires in another way.

Or take up a new "sport" - find an indoor rock climbing facility, hiking, swimming, mini-triathalons, try boxing/karate/tae kwan do (sp?) classes, rollerblading, olympic lifting, etc.

Sometimes I find I get tired of doing the same old training styles, so then my diet suffers too. A different focus might help bring your motivation back.

Well, I'm doing a new weight routine -- the Rock Hard Challenge from M&F magazine & I really like it -- really increasing my strength with it and seeing some muscle....

However it's the diet part I can't hack.......hubby has a beer (or 2, 3, 4, etc) Friday nite & I just can't sit there & not have some too....or a glass or 2 of wine or a Vodka tonic (but I make mine with diet Tonic water) but still I want to join in too and just can't say no.....

And this diet is supposed to be different for me as before I was supposed to start it I wasn't really paying much attn. to my diet.....

I dunno....maybe I just can't do something like this.....

i have the same problem i just cant even stick with any meal plan
i feel you jens
i work and then i work out and eating right just never seems to be an option lately, thank god for my metabolism still being really high or i would have a weight and tone issue.

i hope you find what works for you jen maybe you can help me too.
good luck hon

I was taking a look at the first month of that today, and that diet is specific!! (If you haven't seen it before, it pretty much tells you exactly what foods to eat...which is good if you don't know where to start but sucks if there is food you hate beause it doesn't give you other suggestios. Pork chops? ICK) Plus it doesn't have you eating a lot of protein at breakfast and it seems like a lot of carbs. You think it would work well with a different cutting diet but same workout program?

Actually I'm just doing the workout part of the RHC -- I'm not following the diet part.

Here's what I'm supposed to be doing:
M1 25g carb
M2 15g
M3 25g
M4 15g
M5 10g
M5 5g

Protein is 30-35g per meal and fat is 11-13g per meal.....

It's just that when the weekend comes & can't stick to it.....

Ok, that's what I was thinking of doing too when it comes time to change up the weight training/cardio routines in another month and a half. I like how the weight training really puts a good focus on your core, I need that.

Oh Jen, i totally understand. My boyfriend can eat & eat & eat...& i know it's tempting. You know what I do? On Sat. I allow myself a fruit popsicle...usually in the evening when he's doing his snacking...Also, in the morning on sat & sun I pack food as if I were going to work... you know nuts, natural pb., protein shake, strawberries, and hard candy...set portions aside and let myself know that what I have "packed" is what I can have...planning ahead really helps..IMO

Other than that...it's all you. Try to keep yourself busy, washing clothes, cleaning the bathroom, washing your car, washing his car, taking care of the plants, the yard, etc. Good luck!!! Stick with it!!

Are you giving yourself cheat meals at all?

I'm counting down the minutes until my gooey, yummy slice of pizza and my scoop of chocolate raspberry ice cream this coming Saturday night (pathetic, considering it's only Tuesday...)

Jen.....diet strictly Mon-Fri...go off on Sat and Sun and you will still lose a steady amount of weight
