yes, it is quite possible that could happen. all that person has to do is have enough supporters now and there is a very real possibility. u have just highlighted the problem with organised religion.

Truth is a revelation....no one comes to God lest the spirit draws them. You do not have the ability to decide if you will or will not believe in Jesus. It is not about believing, though you must believe to inherit...more about a divine revelation and a experience. I can assure you that Jesus is real. I speak of an exprerience which will never be at the mercy of an argument. I caution you that you are not immortal and he was, is and will always will be. You need revelation. It's not a stupid question at all.

The Bible was created by the council of Nicea around 320 A.D. by order of Constantine of Rome. They created the Old Testatment by making small changes to the Hebrew Bible. The Hebrew Bible, the book Jesus preached from, is a collection of religious writings from over 40 different authors across several continents over a period of more than 1500 years before Jesus, assembled into book form by Jewish priests around 400 B.C. Then the council of Nicea collected Christian writings post crucifixion and chose the ones that sounded most "divine". These became the New Testament. Many writings were rejected by the council, most of which did not depict Jesus as the flesh of God but as simply a man.

Constantine ordered the Bible created because the Christian religion was in a state of chaos, but becoming powerful. There were many sects of Christianity becaue they did not have a holy book or one point of worship, they had hundreds of scriptures and gospels scattered about, with different sects worshipping different "versions" of Jesus and God. Constantine knew that religion could be a powerful tool, so he had the council create one Holy Book to unite the Christians, or to better control them.

I think its pretty well established with those who are not blind zealots that most of Christianity including those whole Jesus scam was stolen from Mithraism and half a dozen other religions.

Look at the similaritites to figures from the ancient Egyptian religion

They are:

After his death he descends to hell, then on the third day he rises from the dead and ascends to heaven in glory.

His death and resurrection are celebrated by a ritual meal of bread and wine, which symbolize his body and blood

Exactly. In 2000 years, who knows what religion they'll be worshipping them. If religion is nothing more than some council picking and choosing various stories from authors over time -- rejecting what they don't like -- and then people "following" it. We can do the same thing now, and be immortalized like gods by future humans!

What amazes me is that Rome's Christianity is still so powerful and popular today, over a thousand years after the empire's fall. Just a testament to how powerful and vast the Roman empire truly was.
