the SUBWAY diet for losing fat

ok i am going to be starting to take d ball in a few weeks but i need to lose some fat first. i was thinking about trying the Subway diet because it seems to work great for a lot of folks. that Jared guy lost like 200 pounds on the subway diet!!! my favorite sub is the spicy italion sub. so has anyone tried this diet to lose fat and did it work good for you???

Eating Nothing But SUBWAY® Sandwiches

Not all fast food is fat laden, says Indiana man

MILFORD, CONN. (December 2000) - Jared Fogle took an unusual approach to losing some of his 425 pounds. He decided to go out for a sandwich. In fact, he visited a SUBWAY® restaurant twice daily for the next year, dropping an amazing 245 pounds in the process.

What Fogle calls his "Subway Diet" helped him trim his waist nearly in half, from 60 to 34 inches. "Most people think of fast food as a way to gain weight, not lose it," says Fogle. "But I discovered how to enjoy lots of fast food without all the fat."

Fogle got the idea when he saw a sign in his local Subway shop promoting "Seven Under 6 Grams of Fat." It was a far cry from the fat-laden, fast-food burgers and pizza that were formerly mainstays of his diet.

At the time a 22-year-old student at Indiana University, Fogle says his Subway diet consisted of little else. Fogle ate a 6-inch turkey sub for lunch and a foot-long veggie sub for dinner. He enjoyed a small bag of baked potato chips with lunch and permitted himself diet soft drinks throughout the day. He skipped breakfast and held the cheese and mayonnaise for a diet that totaled less than 10 grams of fat and about 1,000 calories per day. Fogle graduated in May. He has maintained his weight and did an "update" in a TV commercial for Subway this past summer.

Fogle loaded his sandwiches with tons of lettuce, green peppers, banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, and pickles, topped with a bit of spicy mustard. "It felt a little like feasting, rather than totally depriving myself," he says.

Dietitian Tina Ruggiero, of New York City, describes this dieting approach as "portion control." Describing weight-loss strategies in the November 1999 issue of Men’s Health, she says that by eating predictable portions, dieters need not bother with counting calories. She also says that including lots of fiber as part of a reduced-calorie diet can help by making dieters feel full.

Fogle admits his diet was extreme and explains that he did speak to a physician before starting his diet. He also makes it clear that he combined his diet with a walking program, as doctors recommended.

Subway Corporate Dietician Lanette Roulier stresses that the chain does not endorse the "Jared Diet." "It’s great that it worked for him but I would rather he had eaten a balanced breakfast and more fruits and vegetables," says Roulier. She adds that individual needs vary and dieters should always consult with their physician and/or dietician before embarking on a weight loss program.

This is not a strategy that would work in just any fast-food restaurant. For example, eating one quarter-pound hamburger and one larger hamburger each day at another leading fast-food restaurant would have weighed down Fogle with 62 grams of fat. Bad press for greasy fast-food burgers has convinced many consumers that it’s practically impossible to eat well when eating convenience foods.

Fogle’s successful formula turned him into somewhat of a celebrity. His story is being told in national TV commercials for Subway and he appeared on the "Oprah Show," the NBC-TV "Today" program with Katy Couric, "Extra," as well as an article in USA Today. " People are stopping me on the street saying, "Hey, aren’t you the Subway guy."

Subway officials say that Fogle’s story, aside from being inspirational, helps highlight Subway’s commitment to providing a selection of seven menu items under 350 calories and 6 grams of fat. For example, its turkey sandwich provides only 282 calories and 4 grams of fat in a 183-gram serving. (Fogle added just a small number of extra calories with added toppings.)

As Subway’s TV spot makes clear, Fogle’s diet was his own creation and it would not be appropriate for everyone.

"We’re proud of Jared’s accomplishment," says Chris Carroll, Director of Marketing for the Subway Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust, "and we are proud to have played a part in it."

Subway is the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, with more than 14,700 independently owned and operated restaurants spanning the globe.
 
You don't understand the guy in the subway diet was an actually subway, he was a train, through Metamorphic conversion he became a fat human, with no muscle or brain, he still thinks he is on track.

Actually I love there Chicken on whole wheat.

It is not a balanced diet, you can critique your eating and be more effective on your own.
 
Also, if you notice, the article said turkey and veggie. The turkey sandwich plain probably has about 5 grams of fat and the veggie has about 2-4. The spicy italian you're talking about liking so much, probably has about 24 so it wouldn't do you any good. Just my 2cc's if you are serious.

i have decided i am going to start the subway diet tomorow. i am about 50 pounds overweight and i am convinced i can lose this weight on the subway deit. after i lose this weight then i will start taking the d ball pills and get buff.

Jared is a inspration to anyone that is trying to lose weight. if he can do it i can do it to. i think he looks in great shape now because he did a lot of hard work and excercise and stuck to a strict diet.
 
What the Subway ad doesn't mention is that the Jared guy walked his ass off. He didn't lose weight by eating Subway alone. He lost weight by excersizing his ass off. Take my advice bro. Eat smart and train hard.
 
Jared is a true hero to anyone that is trying to lose weight. he has one of the greatest weight loss story of all time and he looks great!
 
naw mine is natrual i don't have enough money to juice me and my dogs hehehe but they do work out. we do weight pull events along withprotection training. i have had 80 lb dog pull over 1100 lbs 16 feet on a cart

Any 400 pound fat fuck can lose weight on 2 6 inch subs for christ sakes but you can build a chisled body on a diet like that.

Why don't you go out and try the cookie dough ice cream diet i did and i went from 500 lbs down to a lean mean 210 i swear i ate a gallon of cokkie dough ice cream a day

It's not hard to lose fat when your as fucking obese as that Jared guy was. He could melt the lbs away with cutting out 3 of the 7 Big Macks he eats daily.

i have been a gym owner and personal trainer for the past 13 years and i am apualed at the lack of dicipline that you posses. put down the d-bol and exercise the "search" feature on this board. with the guys here you could only imagine the amount of knowledge that is available to you, but all you want to do is walk in to a store and have some 16 year old kid make you nutrional choice for you . i bet you would burn more calories walking around the supermarket buying real food,

Save the d-bol money and get your self a comfortable chair cause if you would ask right, most of these guys on this board will school your ass with knowledge !!!!!!

use your time wisely do not waste it. if you come to your senses then e-mail me and i can give you advice, not a 6 inch sub. you know the old saying " give a man a 6 inch sub and feed him for the day, but ask and learn from those who know and eat healthy for a lifetime "

Dude that is one boring diet. Subway sandwiches everyday. Get a little more educated about dieting instead of the easy no brainer 2 subs a day. Jeez I bet those Subway execs are loving every minute of this nonsense.

I was a szie ZERO, get that, ZERO before I got into bbing for real. I wore children's clothing, yet I NEVER wore shorts....y'know why? As skinny as I was I HAD ZERO MASS - NO MUSCLE OR FIRMNESS, but FLABBY THIGHS W/THE DREADED CELLULITE!!!!!

And yes, I was in the gym religiously - cardioing to death and though I trained as intensely as I could for a woman who was starving to death....I was always pissed off because my body changed VERRRRRRRRY SLOOOOOOOOWWWWLY and I never seemed to get any stronger. Hey, I got to eat ICE CREAM!!!!...but I didn't eat much else and I rarely ate more that 1,200 calories p/day......See where this is heading? Not all calories are created equal and starvation is starvation PERIOD!!!

Then I got educated about proper diet and BANG! I got waaaaaaaay stronger REAL FAST! And I made amazing progress in my physique. When I think about all the time I wasted. Ah well, live and learn.

Awesome post bikinimom, I should frame that for all the people who "eat ice cream" and starve themselves all the time so they can "eat ice cream" and still "look good."

I have nothing against Subway personally, I think it contains a shitload of calories which is why when I'm lifting hard and trying to gain muscle which is most of the time, I'll throw in a subway sub now and then. The roasted chicken 12" is probably over 600 cals? There are worse foods.

But the idea of the subway diet and the idea that some fucking lardass who loses weight in this way is some kind of HERO, that is laughable. I find this very annoying. I work out for years and years, but people don't seem to respect real dedication, instead they're all full of praise for the guy like my friend who has always been a big lardass, but who has lost 10 lbs. (that easy first 10 lbs. when you're 30 lbs. too fat) because he's taken the first halting (and temporary no doubt) step towards fitness by walking or riding the bike 3 times a week and eating a bit better.

Wow great, I ride the bike *to cool down* after 4-5 intense weight training sessions per week, and I'm supposed to sit around cheering because someone remembered how to put one foot in front of the other for a couple of weeks?

Man I'll tell you, this society is so full of praise for the tiniest accomplishments. It's a wonder we ever get anywhere. I think I'm going to move to Sweden or something.

By the way, Jerry Seinfeld is currently doing a "bit" on Jared. He has a whole thing about the quantities of food Americans consume today. And I quote: "just what kind of sorry human being was this guy before, if he can lose 100 lbs. on an all-hoagie diet? yeah, that's a real diet plan. Give me the MEATBALL HERO." LOL :goof:
 
well i just started the subway diet this morning and i already am starting to feel good. i had a 1 foot spicy italion sub, sun chips and a medium lemonade. i will have the same thing for supper and that is all i will eat a day. i will also ride my bike for 15 minutes every single day to help lose more fat. my goal is to lose about 5 pounds a week so it will take me about 7 or 8 weeks to lose all the fat. i will start to take the d ball in about 2 weeks to help get more buff and cut up.
 
If you are going to start this "subway diet" than let it be known that you are a Subway RETARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


If this diet seems legit than you obviously have NO idea what you are doing.

Nothing comes easy and that includes working out and eating right
No quick fixes buddy and believe me a week of italian subs and soon you'll be binging on anything in sight.
 
gosh all i wanted to now was if anybody tried this diet and all i get are insults from everyone. if you look at the subway website there is proof that a lot of people lost weight from the subway diet!!!!!! anyway i am still going to try this diet and see if it works. if i dont see that i am losing weight after 3 or 4 weeks i might switch over to the atkins diet and see if that works. my friend told me that all deits work diferent for everybody. if one diet wont work then he said to maybe try a differnt one like atkins.
 
When you get finished with experimenting with all those diets and have no doubt put on EVEN MORE weight you may try coming back here. Maybe then you will realize fad diets dont work.

I speak for myself when I say I'm tired of the fad diets. I am obese 5'10 405 lbs 33 yr old 49.9%bf. I have been to nutrionist and all who confuse the heck out of me.

Is there anything decent online or in mags books for diets? I know I should be doing 45 mins-60 mins a day 4-6 days a week of cardio.

I ate 2 cold cut footlongs on white with the works and 1 6" meatball sub. Tonight, in 1 sitting. Faster than the people next to me at a regular meal. No shit.
 
guys jared lost all that weight by yes eating subway,but he had the help of aids, and he wants all of you to get aids aswell
 
Law of Conservation of Energy applies with Jared "I used to be a weak fat fsck, now I'm a weak skinny fsck" Fogle. You take in less calories than you expend, you'll lose weight.
