The point above about over-legilsation is right on. everyone isa criminal at some point.

One has to wonder - what does being a cop offer that the typical office job doesn't?
1. Great pay? Nope
2. better hours? Not really...if you have third shift.
the benefits are
- a sense of authority.
- a sense of acceptance. Cops are respected (feared?) by many in society, and have a "brotherhood" with each other.
- a sense of doing something "important". You can quantify your contribution easily, rather than an office worker who may not be able to feel his "impact" on society.
Given that the rule of law is imperative to our society, we need some form of policing. However, are the traits above desirable in those who aer alw - enforcers?
- social neediness
- desire for power
- need to feel important
I say no. While some people can say "they aern't all like that", that is misleading. Most are, itis only the degree that varies.
As such, a solution:
1. De-unionize police. This would result in merit pay and in ease of administratively removing bad cops. ower dervies from the people - thus the word of the people should be enough to remove those charged with preserving societal order.
2. Cut down - way down - on the number of laws.
2. Create a separate system of punishments for police who break the law. The standards for guilt would be the same, but the sentences would be far harsher.
Nothing undermines public trust like abusive cops.

Cops tend to be the ones with greater needs in these areas, and therefore tend to take that route to finding fulfillment.

some cops are hot heads,but you get that everywhere and in any job, 99% of the cops I know are the best guys ever so I dont have a problem with them,they have a job to do and they do it just like anyone else.
the only people who have problem with cops have attitude problems to begin with and dont want to accept that the cop is only bothering them because they did something wrong
