It's the same as with any group of people. Some good and honest and some bad and dishonest.
I've had a cop get take the stand at my trial and lie his ass off, but I've also had another cop let me off for driving on a revoked license while on probation.

Hmm...
Seems to depend a lot upon what type of cop they are.
Highway patrol guys off duty are usually very cool..
Off duty county sherriff's are usually ASSHOLES
and regular police.... seems to depend on the day of the month.
They all seem to abouse your power... I hate the way cops talk to me. Very condescending..
Ive NEVER been arrested, Im white, good job, I dress very well and Im very athletic looking and they still talk to me like shit.
You would think after doing what they do for years on end they could tell the difference between your average citizen and a law breaker and treat each accordingly. They CHOOSE to treat everyone like an asshole and then act all offended when the general populace doesnt like them.

Highway patrol people are almost guaranteed to be dicks, since that's the function of their job. Glorified highway traffic cops. Their entire job is to find people breaking little traffic rules and fuck with em. Occaisionally they make some other bust, but its almost always by coincidence.

I think cop put there lives on the line everyday protecting people who bitch when they have to face the music for doing something they shouldn’t be doing. Yes, some of them do have an attitude I think it’s justified most of time.

Sounds like some of you guys are upset that a traffic cop wrote you a ticket. what the hell are they suppose do to, that is there job, you break the law, they write you a ticket. I could careless how the cop talks to me, if he is condesending then I just assume he has some issue with his life that makes him feel small, maybe his wife beats him up or he has a small dick, or whatever. I let him have his power trip and know it is truely a sign of his weakness.
Lots of cops are assholes, but if you think about it, if you compare it to the general population i think the percentage of assholes is about the same. The cop assholes have more power than the regular assholes , thats the problem. I do not have any more respect for a police officer than I do anyone else in society that works. The numbers show there job is not anymore dangerous than many others. In another thread here I read yesterday, someone posted labor statistics that showed gardeners die at the same rate per 100,000 as cops.

I think there's two problems:
1. The kind of person that's attracted to police work isn't always the kind of person you'd want there.
I remember high school, some of my classmates became policemen, and I remember thinking they were doing it cause they were up-tight pricks with a bully streak that were just a little too fascinated with their guns.
2. We have way too many laws. About everything. Turning EVERYBODY into some kind of criminal.
The taillight bulb goes out on your car, and you can get pulled over and ticketed.
There isn't a person in this country that couldn't be thrown in jail for SOMETHING they've done.
