The Omega Project Log

First I would like to thank Omega for giving me the opportunity try his program. I've been working out for awhile, but I have been in a rut of doing the same old workout and just going through the motions lately. My gains have also stalled the past year.

My goals for this workout are to add strength and some quality lean muscle. I haven't added much strength or size since August of 2009.

This thread is going to be updates about the workout and my progress. I also have a partner in crime (Sara) who is also participating and will chime in with her progress as well.

Rebecca D:qt:

First day: WOW. My legs were shaking half way through the workout. I am focusing on slow controlled reps. After five sets of leg presses and five sets of smith squats I realized I tried to do too much weight. I had actually decreased the weight in anticipation, but not enough. My heavy set of Leg Prsses is usually 360lbs plus the sled for 12 reps, but I only got 6 and it hurt...I was suppose to do 7-9 reps which I thought would be easy. I can honestly say I haven't had a leg workout this intense in at least a year.

Congrats on following the Omega Project protocol! I look forward to your progress with great interest, Rebecca!

Hi I am OMEGA :artist:

First of all :garza: I'm stoked for you.

Secondly, sounds real similar to the volume workout I started two weeks ago. Is the goal to increase weight each set and what's the rest interval?

Is Sara our Sara_XO and are you ladies real life training partners or do we mean just both following the same program?

RW you are totally welcome if you ever want to do it:)

Rest is about 45 seconds between sets, and 2-3 mins between exercises

Yes its our SaraXO hopefully she can hop in , in time

Hey everyone,
Sorry I don't really go online during the weekends as it's my time to get all my errands done due to working 8-6 during the week days.

Thank you to OMEGA for allowing me the opportunity as well to have a change to experience some new physique changes. Currently it's 3:15am, yes, and I do work at 8:00am but I am having a hard time convincing my body it should be sleeping right now.

Anyways, Today (Monday September 27th) is the first start day for me. :) LETS DO THIS!

You ladies will be very pleased with how your body changes if you give it your all. I have worked with Omega a few times with great success.

Alright, onto day 3 of the diet and training program!! checked today to see what's up with bf (scale measurement) and weight. Down 3 pounds (I KNOW I KNOW BUT IT'S MY OCD THING) and down 1% with bf!! keeping motivation high and pushing though!!! :) WOOT!

Diet isn't too bad except at night. Did another leg workout and felt better about the 2 seconds up and down...more in control. I did have to use the machine leg press though. There was some guy with a gazillion pounds on the leg press. He was doing 1/2 reps and resting 5 minutes between sets. Man I hate that. Oh well, it still burned my legs. Smith squats had my quads very pumped. Only two workouts but I feel good about it so far. Need to take some before pics and measurements.

I will be following along! :)

I'm wondering what the Omega project/ protocal is? I know you're out there Omega ....is this something you have designed specifically? Just curious what you girls are doing!

Keep up the good work!

Today was back, traps, and biceps.

Today was not a day for the weak at heart. I did over 30 sets today but I did it in the same amount of time I normally do 18-20sets. I am still working on the combination of 2 seconds up/down while squeezing the target muscle. This is tougher than it sounds. The toughest part is the sets that are for 15-20 reps. Doing that many reps that slow really burns. By the time I got to biceps I was exhausted but very pumped. Hitting Chest and triceps tomorrow.

How you sleeping? Sometimes while adjusting to high volume people start to experience insomnia. I certainly do.

Yup, I also have problems sleeping when I am on a high volume workout or on a carb restricted diet.

I'm falling asleep fine, I've been exhausted, but I've been waking up around 5 or 5:30 and can't get back to sleep. (Normally I get up at 6:30.

Rebecca D

Great:) by the time you get to arm muscles on either day they are suppose to be "safely toasted" lol:)

You will NEVER get tendinitis or a pulled muscle in this sequence, also you will notice cardio needs are less, and you should be incurring a acute diuretic effect as the workoust near end.:)

the only thing I would like to share is that on the first 2 sets, dont "go for it" ,
yes get a burn, but not failure of any kind.

Rebecca the diet and basic supp tools your using will kick in fully around week 2. and will help ALOT with the ability to rise to this new level.

Thanks for the tip. I think I've been going too hard on the first two sets because I am struggling on the last two sets. I think I need to humble myself a little more and lower the weight again.

I did the chest/shoulders/triceps today and felt like I had better control of the weight. It was tough to finish my triceps by the end of the workout. I did change the workout a little. I don't do "female" pushups, I do pushups. (Just having fun with you)

Good solid workout today, don't think I had as much intensity today but you can't bring your A game everyday.

Rebecca D

hay! I do female Pushups

I even seen Jay Cutler do them too!1!

on a side; note women in general have much better intuition in the gym

the fact you said "you can't bring your A game everyday." is a huge plus!

on those days it VERY wise to ease back... your body gains more from this awareness then it loses.

thanks for sharing:

While I'm sure we'd like to own that ability, it's really a function of socialization. Women are permitted to rationally recognize their physical limits. "Real men" aren't.

Sorry sorry, haven't been on much.. weekends are brutal for me. Super busy AND Jay Cutler was in town this weekend and I went to see him got some pictures and autographs. :) WAS A HUGE MOTIVATIONAL PUSH! ANYWAYS!!

Agree with Rebecca and the diet is tough at night... and I wake up every couple hours for about 20 minutes to and hour.. kind of sucks. Um, work outs are tough, not used to contracting and being super controlled with high repetition..

so far so good, 7lbs down.. going to visit family this coming weekend in Winnipeg, can't wait.

yeah, but not like "over powering" just makes it a little harder to fall asleep.. have been trying to drink a ton of water to convince myself I'm full. haha.

FEEL MUCH BETTER

haha, slept like a baby, last night. :) had a killer leg workout could barely walk. legs were shaking haha...

and then slept right up until i had to get up!! FEEL SOO RESTED!

Hi Rebecca and Sara! Sounds like things are coming along pretty good in here!

What are you guys beginning stats? I don't think I saw it. Just curious.

Good luck!

My starting stats (after I gorged for the last time before starting) haha.

Height: 5'7 ish
Starting Weight: 175lbs

Current Weight: 167lbs

FEELING AMAZING!! :p

Nice! And I bet your body composition had changed quite a bit. Did you take your before pics so you can compare when you are done.?

yeah, I have some. i will post them as one picture side by side once this is done :) CANT WAIT!! haha!

Whew, I miss a day and the woman's forum got busy.

My workout Tuesday was legs and was great. Had energy and felt like I worked harded. Didn't add weight just felt better with the 2 seconds up/down and my form. Felt strong on the Leg Press and then Smith squats burned my quads. Diet is good this week but I struggled a little on the weekend. Back, traps and biceps tomorrow.

Slept better this week

RD

On back, traps, biceps day it is taking me about an hour and 1/2. I was worn out today. I always like to walk 30 minutes after a workout but I didn't have time today. Though I would give a few of the weight I lifted today.

Wide Pulldowns--did (60lbs) for 20 slow reps first set
did 75lbs for 8 slow reps

Only rested 45 seconds between sets

Was able to do a little more weight for close grip pulldowns. What seems to be making my muscles work harder is how much I focus on the target muscle with each exercise. I go very slow and try to squeeze that muscle. Add to that the 45 second rest and I'm sore after one or two exercises.

Other lifts today were 10 slow reps of standing curls for 50lbs and 10 slow reps of preacher curls using 40lbs.

Biceps were jello.

Rebecca D

Rebecca D .... simply awsome

Your using 50 on curls?

eas back to 40 its all you need:)

and on reverse curls no more then 35 lbs

Hi Rebecca. Nice training girl! Love your avatar! Sweet rear double bi.

Have an awesome weekend!

Thanks,

I'm not quite as cut as I was then. I would love to be as tight as you. Good luck in your comp.

I need some forgiveness Omega. I had to cheat on Saturday. I'm a University of South Carolina grad and we went the the South Carolina/Alabama game in Columbia. On top of that my husband is a huge Alabama fan and I've had to listen to him all year about their national championship. Needless to say after the upset by the mighty Gamecocks I may have had a couple of drinks in celebration. (Don't worry, my husband was sober, depressed, and driving).

Well anyway, I'm back on track with my diet today and will hit Chest and Shoulders this evening.

For benchpress today I used dumbbells. Used 25lb db's for 20 slow controlled reps, 30lbs for 15 slow controlled reps, 35lbs for 10 and since I was feeling good I used the 45lbs and got 7 good slow reps. This was my best day so far, I was only resting 45 seconds between sets and still completed all reps with the weights above.

Used the smith machine for standing shoulder presses. Did 25lbs, 30lbs, 35lbs, and 40lbs for 20,15, 10, and 8 reps respectfully. Was a little worn out but still completed all reps using 2 seconds up and 2 seconds down and only resting 45 seconds between sets. (Drop set on last set of each exercise).

Starting my third week and am feeling in more control with the weights using the slow rep motion. Didn't seem like as much of a "chore" to workout today.

Nice numbers Rebecca. You are motivating me to push harder! Good job!

Another evening workout. Kind of refreshing, I haven't worked out in the evening maybe twice in the past year. Sometimes the simplest change can be motivating. (Chaperoned a kindergarten field trip to the fire station this morning......did get to see some firemen:D)

Back/Traps/Biceps today. This is the longest and hardest workout I am doing. After pulldowns, bentover rows, lat raises and shrugs I had nothing left for arms. I lowered my last weight on straight bar curls from 50 to 40lbs. I barley got 8 slow controlled reps with the 40lb bar. My arms were rubber but I was motivated so I dropped to the 20lb bar after 20 seconds and pumped out 40 reps...I couldn't believe it. I believe my strength is up and also my muscle endurance. Good diet so far this week. I'll avoid the tailgating this weekend so I should be good this weekend as well.

My biceps feel pumped, I keep flexing them for my husband.

Woman, you're a machine. :)

Started this week with Back, Traps and Bis yesterday. Was still a little sore from last week so wasn't as "impressive" but still wore myself out. Legs today, Chest/Shoulders/Tris on Thursday, Back/Traps/Bis again Friday and Legs again Saturday. I got all five workouts in last week with Chest day and Leg day twice. One thing is for sure, the volume of these workouts does wear you out.

Okay, so I have some terrible news... I have to withdraw from this Project.. and I thought I'd do it publicly..

I have developed Hypothrioidism.. (had my blood work done last week, starting supplementation next week)

As well, I have to return for more bloodwork the docotor is worried about my Cholesteral (sp?), Iron, Magnesium, and White Blood Cell Count.. SO! I am taking a little break..

I am sorry Omega.. :(

Hope everything works out Sara. I guess I can trudge along by myself. I know I've been scarce this week but I have been working out. Did the Back workout Monday, Legs Tuesday, Chest Thursday and Back again today. Will do legs tomorrow and hopefully Omega will have a different workout for next week.

Intensity was good this week, I think my muscles finally got used to the slow reps. My diet was great this week with one exception. Took the kids to our State Fair yesterday. Had a polish sausgae with peppers and onions and split an elephant ear with my husband. Other than that I have been good. (One thing I noticed at the fair is there are a lot of overweight people there.....I guess they are on the fair diet).

Love all,

Rebecca D (On my way to visit the parents for the weekend).

One thing I have noticed about myself...when I am really trying to be healthy and in shape and "thinner" I notice all the overweight people around me! When I'm feeling "fat" and not so great...I see all the skinny people. What I always notice are the numbers of heavy children though.

Keep up the good work! I enjoy reading your log! :)

Omega,

I'm ready for my new workout. I changed up a bit yesterday and did a spin class and a bodypump class. It had been over a year since I did bodypump. Nice buzz after those 2 hours. Just PM me the next round of the Omega project and I'll get on it immediately.

Thanks,

Rebecca D
