The Main Reason People Will Say "8 Mile" Sucks Is Because:

I never liked old school shit because I like something that sounds good on 12s and their flows are usually weak.
LOL, name an old skool emcee that that a weak flow...yes Mc Hammer, Vanilla Ice did but really who from the skool was wacker than wack?

Krs One - Loves gonna get you --better that any new skool bass.

LMAO@this entire thread.

Personally, I don't really like rap.

But you have to give credit were credit is due.

Eminem has made it big in an industry that is ruled by black rappers.

THAT takes talent.

I also like the fact that he speaks his mind. Its refreshing.
He doesn't tell people what they want to hear(Pretty much all the other bands do this). He keeps it real.

Thats pretty much it.

I liked eminem's early shit.

He raps with a weird emotion like defiance or something. And his shit is so outrageous and funny....though often too much like his only motivation is to shock people.

Anyways I'd give 8-mile a C. They could have called it "The Marshall Mathers Story starring Eminem" and it would have been the same. But what's up with him being all loving to his sister and being cool with the gay dude? Serious image massaging there. Also the raps were too few, too tame, and too canned sounding. I know that if Eminem were really in a battle he would come up with some outrageous, off the wall shit that would have people rolling in the aisles and looking dumbfounded with question marks over their heads and shit.

He seriously got OWNED by that chick from Cluless...and then OWNED those other emcees in the last battle!

JC

THOSE RAPS WERE ON POINT. HE SAID IN AN INTERVIEW THAT HE WOULD BE WRITING THE RAPS JUST BEFORE THE SCENES.

WHY WOULDNT HE BE "LOVING" TO HIS LITTLE SISTER. HE HAS A DAUGHTER OF THE SAME AGE. HIS GRANDMA WAS ON THE RADIO (KID CRADIC OR SOME SHIT) SAYING HE IS LIKED BY EVERYONE WHO KNOWS HIM. SHE ALSO SAID THAT HE'S A GREAT FATHER. ALL HE DOES IS TALK ABOUT HIS LITTLE DAUGHTER. WHY CANT HE BE A CARING FATHER AND THE TYPE OF RAPPER HE IS.

HIS RAPS ARE HIS JOB. I'M SURE HE DOESNT TAKE HIS JOB HOME WITH HIM.

PS.....THAT "OWNED" SHIT IS GAY AND PLAYED OUT.

Wasn't Ja rule in the movie "The Fast and the Furious" That is one of my favorite movies. I probably watched that shit about 50 times on satellite. It probably helps that I own Honda Civic that I seem to spend most of my money on.

I liked that song "Today Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube.

And I liked the first album of Master P's, but that was when I smoked out everyday.

Everything else you mention was crap as far as I'm concerned. I really hate Puffy, but B.I.G. was cool.

I guess you dont care about Hiphop history, Kulture, Knowledge ,since you only like boom boom beats....tell me if you only like beats (mainly) then why not listen to some techno or club music? they got bass for days.

I'd say Rap was at its peak from 1987-1994, then 98/99 to present has been pretty decent.

1987-1991 - NWA, PE and all that good shit is comin out, Eazy E drops "Eazy Duz It" and NWA breaks up
1992 - "The Chronic" - this album changed Rap forever
1993 - "Doggystyle" - Snoop drops his first solo joint, we also get Warren G's "Regulate", and one of the great masterpieces of rap, "Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers" by the Wu-Tang Clan.
1994-1997 - Rap wasnt at its best. We didnt need that whole Bad Boy 'era' with Mase, Puffy, & Notorius B.I.G. - some pretty wack shit at times. In '97 Wu-Tang released "Wu-Tang Forever" one of rap's best albums.
98-present - It's been a really good era as we're getting more shit from all over the nation. Good variety helps. Tech N9ne is one of the best rappers you'll ever hear, check his shit out. "Chronic 2001" is badass, Dre is the greatest rap producer, straight up. Wu dropped "The W" and "Iron Flag".

I could write more for each time period, but I'm :havoc: right now
