The Importance of Rest. . .

Yep, thats what I am doing. . .

No need for me to train more than 3 days a week:D

I just ordered a large pizza, and I have the movies

Captain Ron
Major League II
Me Myself and Irene

at my disposal. . .

This is what I call my rest day. . . eating, relaxing, working on a literature review, and watching movies.

There is no foreseeable risk of elevation of cortisol levels. . . no indication of me entering a catabolic state.

I can spend the extra time loading up on carbs and protein.

Tomorrow will be a heavy day in terms of training:

Chest, Delts, Triceps, and Back

all basic heavy movements (all bars. . and no bulls**t!!)

So my question is. . .whos with me?

Are you resting and eating enough or are you spending several unneccesary hours in the gym?

let me know. . . I have to go pick up pizza;)

hells yeah...i'm about to go get my rest on, and get my swain on!....bring the Swain Pain!....hop on the Swain Train...wear a bib so I don't get no Swain Stains

i should be a rapper

if im not at the gym im taking it easy. im either on here, asleep, or eating. save for the few nights a week i deliver. its not uncommon for me to sleep 8-9hrs a night and take 2-3 hours worth of naps during the day.

I'm taking it easy this week during my workouts and enjoying increased calories.. My body's getting past all this tendonitis trash. I guess you could say that it's the calm before the storm. Next week, I plan to go ballistic! One exception, I will be working slowly with back and biceps, but the rest of my body is going to feel the pain! Are you ready Swain?

i don't see how you can sit around all day even on your days off. your body doesn't need that much rest, as long as you get 8+ hrs a night, you shouldn't worry about resting during the day by sitting on your ass and wasting your life away

We're being accused of sitting on our ass all day?

Pleasant thought. :lmao:

maybe i stated that wrong
what i'm saying is that sleep is enough rest on your days off, i don't see the need to sit around all day to make sure your not overtraining and what not

this is why I never weight train more than 4x a week, and even now that I'm getting ready for a show, I never do cardio more than one or two of those off days, I know my body needs the rest...and frankly I earn it...

Rest is so important, not just for your muscles but for your CNS too. When you are well-rested and at a low stress level, you feel like an animal when you step into the gym. Just fresh and full of power.

im learning that the hard way!!!!!!!

I just ended a 12 cycle.

bench: Started at 135 for 3 sets. Last chest bench 270 for 3 sets of 5.

Squat: Started 135 for 3 sets of 8. Last squat 3 sets of 5 reps at 295. Full debth of course.

I just started pulling: last workout 275 for 3 sets of 8.(second deadlift workout in 5 years. and it went up easy!!!)

The point is. my body composition is changing, the weights are increasing and im pumped. So what did i do??? I got too excited and started to overtrain! as a result, the tendonitus in my elbows started up again. And an old shoulder injury is warning me.

I took your advice SWAIN. i am taking the week off. my elbows are starting to feel better. and i can move my left arm again. I will go back in on Sunday and pull or squat. depending how my shoulder feels.

TY for the advice. it was just what i needed.
