The "I wear pants" syndrome

I think you guys missed the main reason why you see the big on the top and super skinny leg phenomenon. I would gander a guess and say most of those guys are gay. I'm not gay bashing, and they might not be gay, but in the gay community, it's real common place that they don't work their legs. I don't know why, I'm not gay, but it's just a look. Our gym has a lot of gay guys in there, and like I said, it doesn't bother me, but it's something that I noticed. They're barrel chested or big chested/big arms and twigs for legs. I think the mentality is that they love to show off the upper body in clubs, outings, rests, etc.. I know I turned this into a gay thing, and I'm not gay bashing..I'm being 100% serious. But I will reiterate that not all of them are gay..just a lot of gay guys are like this..

and if they aren't gay and have twigs for legs..they're just lazy fooks..and it's a really bad look to have. My other thought on this is maybe guys who have small Johnson's keep their legs tiny so that it looks bigger..

hmm..

now i'm rambling..

Squats... I'll do them, but I don't have to like them! My legs suck, but at least I'm working on them. I'm 6'2" and about the shortest guy I train with.. So it's easy for me to get sympathy about squats. Two of my training buddies are 6'5" and 6'7" so we've had to work to find what works best for us, especially the tallest guy. I actually find that squats, no matter how good my form is, work my butt more than my thighs (my glutes are plenty developed). So, I mix it up with squats on a smith machine (legs out front to hit the thighs more) and other movements.
I hear you,I am 6'4",240 lbs,and have been squating weekly ( with good form)for many many years, legs are proportionate for my body, but definately not as big as I think they should be,they dont grow like the rest if me,bad leg genes maybe?

i squat once every 2 weeks or so due to tendonitis in both knees and 2 slipped discs in my lower back...i don't enjoy them AT ALL but i'll man up every other week...but it is funny to see maybe 2 people do squats per day in a gym and like 4347832947892374 people on the bench press lol

there is no excuse not to squat, whoever thinks its not the most important thing you can do as far as total body development doesnt know what they are talking about. I have horrible patella tendonitis in both knees, i blew my back out when i was 18 so bad i couldnt put socks on or climb into the shower by myself for 6 months and i still fucking squat twice a week!!! My training partner crashed on his cbr600 doing 60mph and broke 3 vertebrae when he went clean through a 4x4 back first AND THEN hit a tree. ANYONE who uses there pathetic injury excuses to not squat is a fuckin pussy in my eyes.

LOL,

Great thread. I do squats but hate em and rarely push my plateau. Thanks for the inspiration Bro's, gotta MAN UP!

Chicks love a pair of legs too

Gotta work the wheels. All your power comes from your legs in almost any physical activity or event. If you can't squat for physical injury reasons, then hit the sit down leg press or ride a bike for an hour, leg curls, leg extensions.
You don't have to squat 400 lbs either -- Do 100-200 pounds with a full dip and work up as best you can... But DO SOMETHING to excercise your legs.

I agree legs need to be trained. I disagree with this modern day "squats are the best thing a man can do" mentality. To me it is just an elitest thing, overrated in my opinion. And dying to know what are fake lats?

I agree. The old "squat 'til you puke" attuitude is not necessary to have a good leg workout.

what are squats?
